The Friends of the Library present their famous summer kickoff one-day only book sale. Stock up on quality used items at bargain prices.
Creative Gardens
Wednesday, June 26,  6:30-8 pm. Chet Stentiford, the host of Saugus Public TV's Creative Gardens presents an informative evening covering lawn and garden issues, garden design & layout, and much more. Guest expert Darron Jalbert will talk of organic vegetable gardening. Stentiford has received awards at the Boston Flower Show, and has been in business as 'Horticultural Services' for over 30 years and authored Hidden Gardens of Marblehead.
Welcome to the Graveyard
Thursday, July 18, 7-9 pm. cross marker
Presented by The Gravestone Girls: "Keeping our Dead Alive". Learn about cemetery art, history and symbolism with a local twist.  Looking from colonial times to 21st century locations, we'll examine why we have cemeteries & gravestones and why they look like they do. Be inspired to explore graveyards on your own with a greater appreciation and understanding. This program is for teens and adults, free and open to the public.

Monarch Butterfly Program
Saturday, July 20 at 1:00.  Learn all about Monarchs from our resident expert Dr. Charlie Hoffman.  You'll learn how to identify, collect and care for Monarch eggs & caterpillars, and learn how YOU can raise them at home or appreciate them in the wild. Free and open to the public, appropriate for all ages, no pre-registration.
Book Reviews Wanted!
Stop by the Library weekly to submit your reviews for books, ebooks or audiobooks.  Was it thumbs up or down? Register your opinion! A review will be pulled from the weekly submissions for a small prize; multiple reviews are encouraged.  Pick up a teeny form to fill out or submit your reviews by email to Nancy at [email protected].   Please include: your name, book author & title, & brief (2 sentence) description and your overall rating on a scale of 1-5 stars.  The last prize will be awarded August 12: submit early, submit often.

Macro Photography Workshop & Exhibit Thursday, July 11, 2-3:30 pm. Join Toni Carolina for a two-part photography and exhibit workshop on macro and close up photography. The exhibit is Thursday, July 25 from 2-3.  Bring a camera with a macro lens (or function), and a tripod or two bags of rice or beans to steady the shots.  This workshop is free, open to teens 12-18 years old (or entering grades 6-12 in 2013). There is a 12 student limit and registration is required.
Minecraft gaming Thursday, July 25 & Aug. 15, 6-8 pm.  Open to teens 12-18 years old, beginner to advanced players are welcome.  Call or click for details. 
Pastel Workshop: Van Gogh's Starry Night Thursday, Aug. 1, 7-9 pm.  For everyone: absolute beginner to advanced, teens & adults.  Limited to 30 participants: hands-on experience of pastel painting, using professional grade materials with artist Gregory Maichack.  Registration is open now!
Introduction to Martial Arts: Soo Bahk Do Thursdays in August from 2-3,  this 5-week program introduces the beginner student to the classical Korean martial art of self-defense. For girls & boys between the ages of 11-17, registration is required and space is limited for this free program.  The teacher is Master James Harwood, a 6th Degree Certified Master Instructor with more than 30 years of training and teaching experience in Soo Bahk Do.

Summer reading registration is open! Swing by to pick up your summer reading log, time sheet and a schedule of all the fabulous summer events. Items requiring registration are noted, otherwise come along and bring a friend! Many programs are generously funded by the Friends. 
Photography Workshops This Saturday! Grades 1-3 meet from 1-2 pm, grades 4-6 meet from 2-3 pm. Learn how to make the best . Registration required. 
Photography Contest runs from July 1 - July 31, pop by to pick up a flier with full details.    
Eat My Dust! Monday, July 1, 6:30-7:30. Charlie Williams is a mud-slingin', noise makin' kids comedian. See the story of Henry Ford's first car race, learn to imitate a dirt bike and monster truck, and more!  
Seeking Sue! Look for our very blue T-Rex, Sue, as you visit town offices and businesses in Hamilton and Wenham.  When you spot her between July 8 and August 16, drop by to enter your name in a raffle.
