Dear Members,
Today, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland announced that the Government will table a budget on April 19, 2021. This is a critical week to influence the upcoming Federal Budget and ensure that Government continues to provide much-needed support to our sector.
Building on all of the great work you have done to raise this issue with your local Parliamentarians, now is the time for a final push and to come together around a key ask.
We have one ask of you today:
If you have previously spoken with your Member of Parliament and they were supportive, we need you to please contact them within the next 2 days, most ideally within 24 hours – with a phone call (preferable) or e-mail also works – and ask them to tell Minister Freeland that we need to see the following commitments in the next Federal Budget:
- An extension and enhancement of CEWS at 75% targeting hard hit industries until the end of 2021; and,
- An extension and enhancement of the CERS program for hard hit businesses, including deeper support for medium-sized businesses.
Tomorrow at 9:30am EDT we will be re-launching our Coalition of Hardest Hit Businesses, reiterating these asks. We want you to be a part of this campaign and will have additional details to share with you tomorrow morning on actions (sending a letter, tweeting, etc).
Thank you in advance for your precious collaboration. We need the ground swell of support beneath us at the local level in order to drive mass scale policy outcomes. Your voices matter greatly.
Sincerely,
