Dear Members,
This morning, I joined Canadian and American border community leaders at a press conference to call for Canadian federal government to lift the requirement for a negative antigen test to cross the land border into Canada.
As you know, last week the Canadian Federal Government announced that travellers will no longer need PCR tests to enter Canada BUT will still be required to take a pre-arrival antigen test taken no more than one day before their scheduled arrival at the land border. Although this is a step toward opening the border, it is too small a step and remains a barrier to the flow of traffic over the border, to re-uniting families and to business recovery. If we want to save the summer booking season we must act now to remove any testing requirement at the land border and end the uncertainty for Americans looking to travel to Canada.
