Support SB 330 to Protect Business from Civil Liability
Alabama’s business and healthcare community is in great need of your support and voice as our state continues to deal with the negative impact of Coronavirus.
In these times of uncertainty, businesses across the state are doing everything they can to safely and responsibly reopen their doors; however, with the threat of lawsuits at the forefront of their minds, many business owners and healthcare providers are understandably anxious. Such anxiety could discourage employers from bringing employees back to work, which will only prolong the devastating impacts to communities across the state.
To provide businesses and healthcare providers with protection from this threat of additional financial injury,
SB 330
has been filed in the Alabama Legislature and received a favorable report yesterday from the Senate Finance and Taxation Education Committee. This legislation provides businesses, employees and healthcare providers with much-needed protection against civil liability resulting from the contraction of Coronavirus.
A large group of associations and other organizations across the state have formed a coalition of support for SB 330 and we would like to add your business/organization to the list of supporters. This
letter of support
will be presented to each member of the Alabama Legislature to encourage the immediate passage of this critical piece of legislation.
Here is how you can help:
- List your company or organization as a supporter of the SB 330. Click here to sign your business/organization to the letter of support.
- Contact your local legislators via phone, email, text, Facebook, and Twitter to voice your support for SB 330. This Link is a helpful resource to locate and contact your legislator.
- Share information with other businesses in your community on why this legislation is important and encourage them to get engaged. This fact sheet on SB 330 has lots of useful information for you to utilize when you’re communicating with legislators and others on this issue.
Please urge legislators to take immediate action on SB 330 so businesses can have confidence and reassurance as we begin to reopen our economy. This issue is critical to the entire Alabama business community and it is critical we engage now and express our support for the protection of businesses and healthcare workers during this difficult time.
Thank you for lending your support and voice to this critical issue.

Business Responds
How Hartselle is working during the Great Pause
Here are some of the many great stories of how our community is jumping into action to help during this season.
The Freight House: Each Friday they are providing up to 100 meals to ELL (English Language Learners) students and families. Hartselle City Schools system is acting as a bridge to these students and Sandra’s eagerness to help. The students and families drive through between 11 and 12 on Fridays and Sandra and her staff deliver meals out of her restored 1950 Chevy classic truck.
Chamber member, Jesse Calvert leads petition for reopening gyms
When Gov. Kay Ivey issued the “safer at home” order that went into effect April 30, gyms were among the businesses to remain closed – which spurred Jesse Calvert, That Nutrition Place, to begin a petition for reopening gyms and starting a conversation among gym owners to develop policies.
