Ranch Readiness Day 2016 was a big success. More than 200 participants engaged in a busy day of presentations, demonstrations, conversation, and information exchange. Firefighters chatted with veterinarians, community members, animal control and law officers. Emergency Services administrators and lawmakers connected with oth
er
attendees. And the audience had a chance to take part in a highly informative Q&A session on the hot topic of emergency and disaster volunteerism.
The day began with a moving presentation of colors by fire, animal, law, animal services, joined by veterinarians and community members: all those who comprise a real-life Technical Animal Rescue team. We were honored with a gorgeous live rendition of the National Anthem by stars from the Transcendence Theater Company.
Demons
tratio
ns and presentations covered timely topics including fire preparedness on your ranch, equine micro-chipping, managing animals in stress conditions, ani
mal rescue skills, becoming an emergency volunteer, and a trailer acc
ident horse rescue.
The action too
k place, appropriately, at the
beautiful SRJC Shone Farm. Everyone enjoyed local foodie favorites Tips Tri-Tip Trolley & Sub-Zero Ice Cream.
You'll be able to view clips of the presentations at HALTERProject.org soo
n. Here is our heartfelt THANK YOU to the individuals and
agencies who participated, for their continued support of, and involvement in, the HALTER commitment:
