Continuing our conversation for Hand Safety month, there are many ergonomic hand safety concerns when using power hand tools.
The tool weight, handle design, grip, handle shape, trigger size and vibration exposure are factors to consider when purchasing tools.
Frequent and prolonged use of hand tools can cause soreness, aches, pains, and fatigue, which, when ignored, can lead to chronic musculoskeletal injuries (MSI)
MSA conducted an ergonomic assessment and measured the vibration exposure of a worker that was using a 1” air impact wrench.
We then applied a layer of Sorbothane anti-vibration wrap to the tool handle and proceeded to re-measure the worker vibration exposure level.
