| | I’m writing this on Saturday, so I can’t say anything about the Super Bowl, the commercials I loved and those that totally went over my head re: message or product content, the Phoenix Open (I still call it that!), or the ongoing Olympics in Italy. Fooey! But I do hope that you saw at least some of Friday’s Opening Olympics Ceremony, which I totally enjoyed (even the procession of states, which sometimes seems to go on forever, but I do understand). The theme that I took away was one of art through the ages promoting peace and harmony. I have quite a few events that I don’t want to miss: one being, of course, ice skating, and another being curling. I have absolutely no idea why I like curling, but I do. And then there’s the Jamaican Bobsled team and speed skating, and well, I guess I have quite a few more. Most of all, I admire they tenacity and talent of all those who choose to compete, and I am in awe of them! | | The only Super Bowl commercial that I can’t wait to see is the newest from Budweiser, featuring the Clydesdales and an American bald eagle; I have seen clips of it but not the entire commercial, and the clips were fantastic, so I know the entire commercial will be worth the wait!!! Again, I marvel at the tenacity and talent of both the trainers involved and the animals involved, and the fact that none of it involved AI, but just good old American ingenuity and patience. Like so many of the things we all do in life! | | As for the golf play and the Super Bowl itself, I just want to see good matchups and good games, with everyone involved playing at their best levels. To me, not winning is not losing, so long as you gave it your all and played fairly and even joyfully. Sometimes I have to remind myself that these are just high stakes games, and generally not matters of life or death, and it’s fun to sit back and enjoy, regardless of the outcome. Of course, that’s easy for me to say since my Cardinals (both from St. Louis and Arizona) haven’t been involved for a very long time.
