New ways to be a part of Caritas Bridge Week
January 20-26
The beautiful new CARITAS Center is now housing the Women’s Shelter guests, so in place of the traditional CARITAS week here at the church, St. James’ers are now invited to help provide food, fellowship, and fun on-site at the shelter during the week of January 20-26.
There are so many ways to help, including preparing and serving breakfast, preparing and dropping off lunch, preparing dinner at St. James’s and serving at the shelter, providing evening entertainment, and going on a CARITAS Center tour. Signup here.
All activities and meals will take place at:
The CARITAS Center, 2220 Stockton St., Richmond VA 23224
Please no elementary/middle school age children at the shelter. High schoolers may participate at your own discretion.

Blake and Kilpy will be ordained on January 7.
All are welcome.
No ticket required.
On Saturday, January 7 at 10:30 am, Blake and Kilpy Singer will be ordained as priests at Christ Church Episcopal at 5000 Pouncey Tract Road in Glen Allen. This event is open to all, and no ticket is required.
If you remember Blake and Kilpy getting ordained back in June, you may be asking yourself, "why are they getting ordained again?" Great question! Every Episcopal priest is first ordained a deacon. The role of a deacon is to be a bridge between the Church and the world, specifically focusing on the role of servanthood.
After spending 6-12 months as a deacon, those who are called to the priesthood are then ordained as a priest, but every priest was first and will always be a deacon. So, Blake and Kilpy were ordained as deacons in June and will be ordained as priests next Saturday.

End of the year pledge reminder. And gratitude.
With only two days left in 2022, we want to remind everyone to please make sure you’ve fulfilled your 2022 pledge. And, of course, to thank you for your generosity to the mission of St. James’s.
Likewise, if you haven’t yet made your 2023 pledge (and we know a lot of you make your pledge in late December), please be sure to submit your pledge as soon as possible. We are grateful for the generosity of everyone who has pledged. And we want to thank in advance everyone with plans to make your 2023 pledge and fulfill your 2022 pledge before the end of the year.
