January 2021

Happy New Year!

At AG – we are officially declaring 2021 “The Year of Accreditation!”  Between member association requirements, federal mandates for organizations and the requisite shifts so many of you made last year as a consequence of the pandemic, we have seen a more concerted effort on not only becoming accredited, but using the standards and strategies outlined as a result of accreditation.

This year, Accreditation Guru will be introducing more ways than ever to help with becoming accredited, as well as maintaining accreditation status. See below for a brief description on new programs. More details can be found on our website and/or feel free to reach out with questions or feedback.

Best wishes for a year filled with peace and prosperity.

Sincerely,

Jennifer and Team AG

Organizational Challenges Preparing for Accreditation
This Month's Video: Some challenges that organizations face when preparing for accreditation.
Shop Talk
Child Welfare:

As we head into the remaining months for Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) implementation (final implementation deadline October 1), we are finding that many organizations still have questions about what that will mean for their agency. So, while this is not a new tool developed by the Annie E. Casey Foundation – we think it is still a particularly relevant/helpful Tool Kit. There are also a number of helpful articles to help you navigate the process on our website.
Behavioral Health:

For community- and faith-based organizations, SAMHSA is offering grants for Mental Health Awareness Training. Applications are due Feb. 5, 2021. The purpose of this grant is to train non-mental health professionals to recognize signs of mental disorders; establish links with school-and/or community-based mental health providers; and provide education on employment of crisis de-escalation techniques.
Accreditation In Action™
At Accreditation Guru, Accreditation in Action™ means developing programs that allow us to meet different organizations where they are at and help guide them toward accreditation. That’s why we’ve launched several new programs, and have declared 2021 the Year of Accreditation! Here’s a quick guide to the new programs offered. If you are interested in more info on each, go here. As always, we recommend starting with a free readiness assessment to help you discover your organizational baseline.

  • Private Consultation – This is what AG was founded on and the most thorough service we offer to help you from start to finish. Not a new program but, definitely our most comprehensive!

  • new! Webinars – A 90-minute, interactive learning, overview of accreditation basics.

  • new! Bootcamp – 1 day, 3 hours, hands on learning and tools that will get you firmly started and give you a tailored roadmap on the road to accreditation.

  • new! Accreditation Preparation Program – 26-week, classroom style, virtual learning program. Currently only offered through participating states.

Company News
Last December we hosted our first virtual, and largest retreat in the company’s 11 years! The two- day retreat gave us time to learn from each other, make plans for the coming year, and bond as a group. Hoping to be able to gather in person this year, but in 2020, we were thrilled to gather with our formidable team of 18!
