HART's Weekly eBlast

HONOLULU RAIL TRANSIT PROJECT

Rail Safety Hazards

Rail Safety Hazards

HART urges the public to follow safety precautions. Rail stations may seem complete, but they are still active work zones. Entry to all rail stations and facilities is strictly prohibited. Keep safe and be aware of the rail safety hazards summarized below:

  • Keep off the rail track at all times. The trains are powered by a “Third Rail” that runs alongside the rail tracks and carries 750 volts of electricity 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Touching the third rail will result in death.
  • Do not cut or hop fences to enter secured facilities.
  • The automated trains move in any direction at any time without warning.
  • Trespassing at all rail facilities and work sites is STRICTLY PROHIBITED
  • The system is equipped with 1,500+ security cameras.

When driving near the rail guideway, look ahead, not overhead. Do not watch the trains or photograph the trains while driving. For questions, comments, or concerns, HART encourages the community to call the 24-Hour Project Hotline at 808-566-2299 or email info@HonoluluTransit.org.
