This latest Honolulu Rail Transit Project construction update flyover video is available for viewing on HART’s social media outlets. The footage shows some of the construction progress along the alignment, including stations and the guideway from Āhua (Lagoon Drive) Station to Kahauiki (Middle Street- Kalihi Transit Center) Station.

HART's contractor Shimmick/Traylor/Granite Joint-Venture (STG) is constructing the Airport Guideway and Stations (AGS) segment, which includes four stations - Makalapa (Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam), Lelepaua (Daniel K. Inouye International Airport), Āhua (Lagoon Drive), and Kahauiki (Middle Street-Kalihi Transit Center) and five miles of guideway.

The overall guideway completion for the Honolulu Rail Transit Project is currently at 77.5%. For more information, please visit the HART website.

Congressional Passage of Infrastructure Bill Into Law

On November 15, 2021, President Joe Biden signed the $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill into law. "The sweeping law, which U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i) voted to pass in the Senate in August that included at least $2.8 billion for Hawai‘i to repair roads and bridges and make them more resilient to climate change, improve public transportation options for residents, and strengthen high-speed internet access in Native Hawaiian communities and across Hawai‘i."

HART would like to inform motorists of upcoming daytime lane closures on Farrington Highway in Waipahu.

The left turn and U-turn lane from Farrington Highway westbound at the Leoku Street/Leo’ole Street intersection will be CLOSED from Monday, November 29 through Friday, December 3, 2021 between the hours of 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Travel detour information:
  • Motorists on Farrington Highway westbound will be detoured to the left turn at Leokane Street.
  • Leo’ole Street and Leonui Street are also accessible via detour from Farrington Highway westbound onto Kunia Road, Leolua Street then Leoku Street southbound towards the Farrington Highway intersection.

HART’s contractor will be working under the elevated guideway and will require this lane closure in order to provide adequate space for crews to work safely. Eastbound and westbound through-traffic on Farrington Highway will remain open.
