Happy February, Huskies! As you all know, this month is often seen to show love and care for others, but it is important to also take care of yourself. In this newsletter, we'll be sharing different ways to receive support, including:


  • Resources on how and where to ask for help. These include funding resources, academic resources, and mental health resources.
  • Events focusing on wellness, career preparation, and advising support.
  • A shoutout to Academic Support Programs.

Where to Ask for Help

Funding Resources



Emergency Aid: Is available to support students reduce the financial strain of unexpected expenses. This can be used for food security, emergency medical costs, emergency housing or natural disasters.


Office of Merit Scholarships, Fellowships, and Awards (OMSFA): Supports students navigate scholarships and various funding opportunities at UW. These are not limited to merit-based scholarships but also includes those that are needs-based and more! Engage with them through workshops, events, appointments, and their webpage resources.


Study Abroad Scholarships: Studying Abroad can be is an enriching experience and financing it could be a barrier. There are scholarships and funding opportunities that can make this a more accessible experience. Learn more about these opportunities including eligibility and awarding cycles!

Academic Resources



Academic Support Programs (ASP): Provides a holistic approach in delivering academic support to students. Learn more about ways you can engage with ASP to get support in our Resource Corner below.


Advising Appointments: HAS advisors are here to support you! Meet with us (in-person or virtually) to discuss registration, degree planning, graduation applications, and more! You can also attend our Drop-in Advising Sessions.


Faculty: In addition to teaching and research, faculty are there to connect and support students. Their office hours are a great time to meet and connect with them. Faculty can help answer questions about course materials, share advice on conducting research, write letters of recommendation for students they know, and connect with you a student. Developing relationships with faculty can enhance your UW experience.

Mental Health Resources


Counseling Center: Offers 1:1 appointments (in-person or virtual) with a counselor helping students with taking care of their mental health. They provide a wide variety of services in addition to 1:1 sessions including but not limited to workshops, support group therapy, drop-in appointments, and more! You will not need to pay anything out-of-pocket to have a counseling appointment.


Husky Health Center (HHC): Is your primary place to seek medical services at UW. HHC (formerly Hall Health) provides primary care, immunizations, gender affirming care, OB/GYN care, and more. Same-day care is also available to students with urgent medical needs.


LiveWell: Provides skills and knowledge that empower you to make informed decisions about your wellbeing and health. LiveWell provides holistic support through professional staff and Peer Health Educators. They provide various support through workshops, alcohol and other drug consultation, confidential advocacy, and more.

Feb 7: Wellness Center Intuitive Eating Workshop



Did you know that UW's Wellness Center offers free workshops to students? Join this workshop (offered in-person and via Zoom) to learn about principles of intuitive eating to develop a healthier relationship with food. Feb 14: HASentines Celebration



Join HAS from 1:30-3:30 P.M. for our spin on Valentines: HASentines! We will be providing drop-in advising, candy, HASentines notes, limited edition Humanities stickers, treats, and activities. Drop by for as long as you'd like. Don't forget our video walkthrough on how to reach our office if you haven't visited in-person before.

Resource Corner: Academic Support Programs

After reflecting on the past quarter, we encourage you to engage with the UW’s Academic Support Programs (ASP) to help you meet your academic success goals as you define them!


Academic Success Coaching


Provides a series of one-on-one appointments where you can work with a coach to get from where you are now academically to where you want to be. Coaches can help you create a foundation for success in college through focusing on the overall academic experience instead of individual subjects. Coaches can work with you to develop plans to improve time management skills, get motivation, utilize effective study strategies and more.

CLUE Tutoring and Writing Center


CLUE offers tutoring and exam preparation support for individual subjects such as Math, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Computer Science and Engineering. Additionally, CLUE has a dedicated writing center that can support students at any stage of the writing process. CLUE supports students not only when struggling with classes but also when they want to improve their performance to a level they feel they are thriving.
