What We Learned Last Sunday

Service Sunday & Communion

Our older kids had a tour of the Dignity Center. They were able to see first-hand how participants are greeted at the front door, and what they experience when they visit. They donated their tie blankets, and Joan even showed them some of the fun, hidden quirks of the Ministry House! Huge thanks to Joan Jemison for hosting this great learning experience. Everyone had a great time!

Our younger kids helped stuff 75 take home bags for Easter Sunday, and we began to make cards that will accompany the lilies that will be taken to our homebound Hennepin friends.

Coming Up This Sunday

April 13: PALM SUNDAY!

It’s time for our annual Palm Parade. Please arrive by 9:45am to get your palms and get ready to parade like Jesus did as he rode into Jerusalem. The palm parade will begin in the Narthex (back of the sanctuary), so grab a palm branch and head to the back of the church. Adult volunteers will be there to greet you!

Next Sunday is Easter!

April 20 • 9am and 11am worship services

There is no Sunday School on Easter Sunday. Please plan to worship together as a family. Special take home worship bags will be at each sanctuary entrance. After worship, join us for our - first time in a long time - Easter Egg Hunt. Stop by the table in the East Entry for instructions. Egg Hunts will happen after both worship services.

Jesus rides into the gates of Jerusalem on the back of a colt. He is met with wild excitement and shouts of "Hosannas".

Maundy Thursday • April 17 • 7pm • Art Gallery and Online

Jesus sits with his friends and talks about the power of the commandment to love one another.

Good Friday • 7pm • Service of Tenebrae • Sanctuary and Online

Jesus is betrayed, publicly humiliated, and left on a cross to die.

Easter Sunday • 9am & 11am • Sanctuary and Online

April 13

This Sunday, April 13, we WILL resume rehearsal to prepare for Easter Sunday. Remember rehearsal will be in the choir room, 11:40am-12:30pm.

April 20th EASTER

Joyful Noise will be playing only at the 11am service. Call time TBD!

Regular rehearsal

Joyful Noise plays bells with Hennepin Chime during worship. Please let Krista know if you will NOT be there that morning. riedel.krista@gmail.com. We will also be celebrating the end of this season of Joyful Noise with a party at 11:40am this day.

Planning for Earth Day!

April 27

Planning for Earth Day! Our annual Earth Day Celebration will be Sunday, April 27. One of our projects will be creating pollinator houses. To do this, we need some help collecting empty toilet paper tubes, and empty, clean cans. Look for the collection bins in the East Entry. Thanks for your help!

Caring Connections

We would like to pilot a new community building opportunity by connecting families with our homebound Hennepin friends. The kids love making cards to send with flowers for Easter and Christmas. What if we connect families more closely with homebound individuals and create opportunities for visits and more authentic connection? Elderly frequently love to interact with young people, and many of our young people don’t have the benefit of grandparents living nearby. Get ready to drum, sing, dance, and create! We will experience art in all fashions for all of our senses! For kids who have completed Grades 1-5. Click HERE to register.

Older kids are welcome as helpers.

Capturing Stories

In our brainstorming session last month, some of the youth indicated that they would enjoy spending time with our elderly members. We would love to invite interested youth to interview some of our homebound members as part of our 150th Celebration. We would capture these interviews on video, and then edit them to be used in worship or on our social media platforms. Interested? Email Lynne Carroll at lynne@haumc.org.

Graduation Sunday

May 18

On Sunday, May 18 we will celebrate our graduating High School Seniors and all of our Hennepin Scholars. If you have a graduating senior and you plan to join in our celebration, please email Lynne@haumc.org!
