Yesterday I watched a speech by Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, then a speech by new Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson. It was like having the best meal of the year, then a big slice of Poop Cake for dessert. So I’m going to talk about them in reverse order.

Mike Johnson – is there a more forgettable name? This is one of the ways they win. They empower someone who's harmless Jason Bateman on the outside, murderous Patrick Bateman underneath. MAGA Mike comes off as a mealy-mouthed, mild-mannered middle manager. Your central nervous system says, "This boring man is no threat. Nothing to see here!" And if you go no further, you never discover that he:

• is hellbent on a national abortion ban
• wants to criminalize homosexuality
• stands firmly against funding Ukraine
• ...and was a key architect of the 2020 plot to end the democracy.

The new Face of Fascism is now second in line to the presidency. This is why we must continue doing everything possible to register Democratic voters – with renewed urgency – and take back the House in 2024.

It’s one thing to say that. But if you want to feel it? Listen, please listen, to the thunderous speech of Leader Hakeem Jeffries. (It starts at 4:00.) His rhythmic repetition relates the righteous catalog of our causes, echo building on echo till his words glow, the crowd erupts, and once again, you swear silently in your soul: I’m in.

Early voting is already underway in some states, and we're texting, calling and postcarding fast-and-furiously leading up to Election Day on Nov 7. CALLING ALL NATIVE AMERICAN ARTISTS

Those tiny postcards we send pack quite a punch thanks to the notes our volunteers write on one side – and thanks to the magical artwork on the other side.

Yep, we've been beyond lucky to partner with some incredible artists along the way.

We launched with Shepard Fairey, who graciously let us pull images from his portfolio to create a 9-image registration-specific postcard series. Then James McMullan reached out and created an amazing issue-specific series, then another state-specific one. Then Deborah Aschheim created her voter portrait series. And so on... until over 1.2 million postcards to register new Democrats were sent out by our amazing volunteers.

Now we want to expand our artistic universe once again. We know the registration hurdles for Native and Tribal populations are incredibly high, and we want to overcome those hurdles in any way we can. So we're starting with postcards and a Native American-specific Voterizer.

Why is Virginia awesome? Not because it has the world's only oyster museum, but because it has same-day voter registration! That means we can keep registering blue voters now through Election Day 11/7. Virginians can even register to vote in person and immediately vote a provisional ballot. This is vital because Virginia is the only remaining state in the South without an abortion ban, and only Democratic leaders will keep it that way, so we need blue votes!
