Panel Discussion: Hellenic Heroines – Laskarina Bouboulina, Manto Mavrogenous, Despina Achladioti, Lady of Ro
Mr. Pavlos Demertzis-Bouboulis. A 6th generation descendant of the Greek revolutionary heroine Laskarina Bouboulina will speak about his grandmother, Laskarina. He is the Director of the Bouboulina Museum in Spetses and a graduate of the Business School at the University of Glasgow, Scotland.
Dr. Annita Prassa. Historian specializing in Greek History of 19th & 20th centuries will speak about Manto Mavrogenous. Research interests include history of Greek and European Education, Greek Enlightenment, and Greek Revolution. .
Ms. Fotini Baxevani. Acclaimed Greek actress, and HAWC Member, will talk about Despina Achladioti, the Lady of Ro. During the evening, she will perform “The Lady of Ro" and transform into Despina, the patriotissa who became a national legend.
