WHAT'S HAPPENING AFTER SCHOOL?

We are excited to bring several after school opportunities back to Highlands, including choir, homework club, band, and now Lego robotics. Our choir and homework clubs are
free of charge to our parents.
If you are interested in having your child participate in any of these programs, please contact our school office at (661) 294-5320.

WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH A DOT?

All of our students and staff have read a book called The Dot, which is a witty, but inspiring short story that is appropriate for ages 5-99!
The book demonstrates the power of encouragement and how important it is to persevere.
Our staff's focus was to help our students  "make their mark" both in their artwork and in their work to set goals during Goal Setting Conference Week.
When you have a chance, please stop by our MPR and check out our students' artwork and what they made with JUST a dot!

Children who have never had the flu shot before need two flu shots 4 weeks apart. The flu vaccine and TDAP are recommended for all women in their

HIGHLANDS CHORUS NEWS

Yeah! It's time to sing! Introducing the Highlands Chorus, a new musical opportunity for upper grade students. Chorus is a fantastic opportunity for students to experience enriched music education. Students in chorus will learn how to sing in a group, use aural skills, and harmonize. Those who commit to regularly attending weekly rehearsals, will have opportunities to perform in front of an audience.

Students who meet the following requirements will be eligible for the program:
* 4th - 6th grade students at Highlands
* Students who are interested in singing in a group setting.
* Students who exhibit good citizenship and responsibility at school

Chorus will be offered Thursdays from 2:50 - 3:30 beginning on Thursday, October 15th and ending on Thursday, December 17th.

There will be an evening concert for families on Thursday, December 17th at 6:30.
Students interested in participating in chorus are required to fill out the application and permission slip below. We look forward to working with the new Highlands Chorus.

Sincerely,
