HC Alumni News
Houston Christian celebrated its 20th year with a Visionaries' Dinner and Founders' Day chapel. Founders' Day celebrations were a huge success, and our halls were blessed once again by the presence of founding board members, faculty, and families who have shared in Houston Christian's journey over the last 20 years. Attendees at Wednesday's banquet and Thursday's chapel had the opportunity to listen as men and women of great faith spoke of obeying the calling of God with a vision to bring dynamic, intentional Christian education to the families in Houston. Founders told of the mishaps and adventures highlighting God's continued faithfulness and humor as their vision for a school became a reality. By the end of Thursday's ceremony, it was clear that although our Founders turned the dirt, God built Houston Christian High School.

We also had the opportunity to recognize some of the most influential people in the school's history with a Distinguished Service Medal: Terry and Doris Looper for whom Looper Hall was named, and former Fine Arts Chair Ann Crenshaw , who led the Houston Christian choir to 20 consecutive state championships. People like Mrs. Crenshaw and the Loopers created the atmosphere of excellence and godly leadership that defines Houston Christian today.

The event closed with the exciting announcement that Jeannette Clift George remembered Houston Christian in her will and established a $1 million endowment for the support of Fine Arts at Houston Christian High School. At the 15th Anniversary of the school Jeannette shared this message with us, and we will do our best to honor her commitment to Houston Christian. We have been truly blessed with the vision and hope of many great leaders in our community.
Ryan Klasen '04 delivered a heartfelt introduction of Ann Crenshaw at the Visionaries' Dinner.
Past Board Member Jon vonBerg delivered a glowing introduction of the Loopers at the Visionaries' Dinner.
During Missions Emphasis week you could find our Mustangs serving all over Houston! Our Freshman helped at the Houston Food Bank. Sophomores served at the Boys and Girls Country in Hockley, TX. Juniors volunteered at Spring Spirit and Seniors were at Brookwood hosting an International Festival for the residents!
Our International Festival celebration kicked off this year's Missions Emphasis Week. We recognized and honored 20 different countries and their cultures.
Houston Christian was also presented with a Texas flag that flew over the capital by Governor Abbott. A mariachi band was on campus before the chapel presentation.

Remembering Barbara Bush
Our Houston Christian community mourns the passing of Barbara Bush, and our prayers have been with the family in the wake of her passing. We are so grateful for the support the Bush Family has provided to Houston Christian with the establishment of the George and Barbara Bush Center for Scholars and Leaders. We will continue to celebrate and honor the Bush's legacy of leadership for years to come. We are proud of the students who have dedicated themselves to studying and developing their own skills to be stronger leaders.

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF HOUSTON CHRISTAN
Christopher Tutunjian '11
"When I offered my valedictory address to the Class of 2011, I chose to emphasize Houston Christian’s strong sense of family. After four years of studying in the classroom together, competing on the field together, and praying to the Lord together, our class turned from a collection of freshman from all over Houston into a family united by our pursuit of intellect, desire to serve one another, and devotion to the Lord.

These special, unbreakable bonds have certainly lasted beyond high school. My closest friends continue to be those I made at Houston Christian, and when we all get back together, it feels like we are still the teenagers in the football locker room that we were so many years ago.

So many teachers and coaches offered such mentorship and guidance to me, and I still keep in touch with many of them. Houston Christian taught me family goes beyond those with whom we share blood. Shared convictions, common pursuits, and love for each other—those are the foundations of a family, and Houston Christian abounds in them."

Twenty years is a long time - and we want to hear about what you have been up to in college, at work, and in life!

Share with us the ways Houston Christian inspired your journey and we will feature you in the alumni news letter and on the school's website!

Be sure to submit a photo with your entry as well!
