 HC Alumni News
Alumni = Friends, Networking & Community
As spring quickly moves to summer, see what great things our alumni are up to! This month HC took a road trip to College Station to visit our Aggies! We had a great evening full of fajitas and fellowship!

23 alumni met with Dr. Livingston, board member Bill Peel, Dean Utakrit and faculty members! At least one internship came out of this AlumNight and many more connections! One of our alumni hosts was from our Northwest Academy days and we enjoyed catching up with David Wells '88 and his wife, Nichole (below).
This year we visited alumni in 6 cities ! We hosted events in Houston, Dallas, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Philadelphia, and College Station. We are looking forward to seeing even more alumni next year!

Take a moment to read what HC Alumni are accomplishing in college and in life!
Congratulations to Alex Staten ‘17 (below) for receiving the UT Award of Excellence in Biochemistry following his research findings presentation at the Undergraduate CNS research forum on April 12, 2019.
Natalia Khalaf '07 and Head of School, Dr. Livingston ran into each other at the St. Jude Gala on April 13th. Natalia is currently an Assistant Professor in Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine.
Addakin Thomas '18 (Chatham University, below) was in Dallas with his lacrosse team. He ran into Lexie Leite '17 who had also finished a career game of women's lacrosse at U of Dallas!
Party on the Patio - SEN19R Brick Unveiling
SEN19RS had the chance to get up close and personal with their bricks this month at our first Party on the Patio. We had families and students gathered as Head of School Stephen Livingston and Mallory Jenkins '19 unveiled the bricks for the Class of 2019. They have left their mark on HC's Campus forever!
Thank you Robbie Prejean '07!
Robbie joined us on campus and hosted a great talk for our students on the importance of leadership and a strong work ethic. Focusing on these areas while also actively listening to the needs of the company leads to success and growth in the workplace, and in life!

He gave our Mustangs great advice on how to choose internships and being open to opportunities outside of your comfort zone. His adventure led him to a 4 year position in Dubai!

2019 Gala & Auction
A HUGE thank you to David Stein '01 (pictured with his daughter, Jerusalem) for generously donating his original piece of art from his gallery to our gala's auction. " From Down Here" stands at six feet and his talent is evident when you see how he can take resin, mica pigments, enamels, and glitter on wood panel to create a masterpiece!

Our families loved seeing a graduate's work being celebrated and sold in the auction. And we had several alumni in attendance catching up with each other over dinner before busting a move on the dance floor at the After Party!
Distinguished Service Medal - Pastor Gregg Matte
Houston Christian has a long-standing tradition of servant leadership. To be honored with the Distinguished Service Medal, the recipient must have a faithful connection to the school, live in a manner that promotes Houston Christian’s values, and demonstrate impactful and extraordinary service to the community, from the immediate neighborhood to international influence.
Pastor Gregg Matte has served faithfully and tirelessly for 15 years while being a true leader of Houston Christian. Like Brother Bisagno, he works to connect Houston Christian to leaders throughout the community who will strengthen and grow the Kingdom. As a servant leader, Pastor Matte provides wise counsel, serves as a strong ambassador and represents our ideal as a Distinguished Service Award winner. We are blessed to count Gregg Matte as one of our community.

Pastor Gregg Matte joined the Houston Christian High School Board of Trustees in 2004 as a Member when he became the head pastor for Houston’s First Baptist Church. He followed in the footsteps of Brother John Bisagno, one of the inspirational founders of Houston Christian, HC Board Member and pastor of Houston’s First Baptist.

“Serving on the Houston Christian board has been a joy. I have witnessed firsthand God’s movement at the school and the incredible wisdom of other board members. Every time I am on campus for a board meeting or event I am always sharpened in my character, faith and intellect. Amazing people abound at Houston Christian! I am honored to be a part of the HCHS journey and... there’s more to come!”
