HC Alumni News
The school is hard at work gearing up for the new school year! In addition to the events we are planning for our community this year, our campus has been getting a little love this summer. The first steps towards resurfacing the track for the fall are underway! You will definitely want to visit campus to see the updates once the track is complete!
If you can't wait until Homecoming (note date change below!) to see us, then join us for drinks at Cedar Creek on  August 7  for an  AlumNight in the Heights . We have a great group of alums who will be attending and are looking forward to a night of fellowship as we celebrate the last days of summer!
From AlumNights, to our annual Mustang Classic Golf Tournament and Painting Party (a new fellowship party at golf for the non-golfers), to  The Secret Garden  Gala and Auction, we are striving to host events that appeal to you, our alumni. Do you think that you have an idea for an event or a cool location that would allow alumni to reflect back on their days at HC while also building relationships for the future? Let us know, we want to hear from our alumni to create events that you want to attend!!
If you are looking for ways to be more involved with Houston Christian or to get involved with the Alumni Association, please consider any of the following:

  • Career Talk on Campus - Work with counseling & alumni association to talk about your job with students during lunch.
  • Mustang Story for website and newsletter- Write about your life, tell us about college, an internship, work or family.
  • Attend an Alumni Event - see what the Alumni Association is doing - and enjoy!
  • Call Sarah Villaseñor, Alumni Relations to learn more about any opportunities

We hope to see and hear from you soon!
Alumni Sighting!
Our leadership students climbed to the peak of Medicine Bow in Wyoming. Medicine Bow Peak is the highest peak in the Snowy Range, about 35 miles west of Laramie, Wyoming. It lies within Medicine Bow National Forest and is the highest point in southern Wyoming.

While hiking, our students happened upon two HC Alumni who were also hiking the 12,018 foot peak of Medicine Bow! Wishing happy trails to Addakin Thomas '18 & Grace Lawson '18 before school starts this fall !

We love running into our alumni! Keep in touch and be sure to share your stories with us! From trips to jobs, we want to hear from you!

Mustang Stories
Haylee (Pearson) Nelson '07
“I am grateful for the community at Houston Christian. Looking back, I don’t think I would have received the same amount of support, encouragement, or direction from a public high school. What makes Houston Christian special are the people; it is a place where you can be SEEN, and a place where you can find true support through teachers, staff, the student body, and alumni.
I don’t think that I ever took the time to say ‘thank you’ to those teachers that were at HC while I attended, so today I want to say a very special ‘thank you’ to the next generation of teachers; teachers like Kelli Fox (pictured above), who are building up and transforming the lives of so many.”

Haylee (Pearson) Nelson '07 attended Texas A&M University after graduation where she received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Communications. She has experience working in the non-profit, higher education, and professional services industries. Haylee worked for Rice Business School for several years doing business development and talent requisition; most recently, she took a position as a Project Manager for Russell Reynolds (Leadership Advisory & Executive Search firm) where she helps develop and execute search strategy within the legal and technology sectors.
