Q1 Make A Difference Award Nominations

At Hinsdale Central, many staff members offer special help and reach out in kindness to those around them. They teach classes, advise clubs and coach teams that excite the students. If you know a teacher, coach, counselor or other staff member who makes a difference, especially during these trying times, please nominate them for an award by completing the form found here http://www.hcpto.org/make-a-difference/

Anyone can make a nomination. The PTO presents 6 Make A Difference Awards per quarter. The awards include our thanks with a personalized certificate and a $50 restaurant gift card. Nominations received by Friday, Oct. 16th will be considered for the first quarter Make A Difference Awards.

Completed forms can also be emailed Cristen Orput or Patty Pappas at makeadifference@hcpto.org
Mask Requirements in School

An Important Message on Masks
The CDC recommends that you wear masks in public settings around people who don’t live in your household and when you can’t stay 6 feet away from others. Masks help stop the spread of COVID-19 to others. Masks are an additional step to help slow the spread of COVID-19 when combined with every day preventive actions and social distancing in public settings.
How to Select, Wear, and Clean Your Mask
·        When selecting a mask, there are many choices. Please click HERE to show you how to select, wear and clean your mask.
·        Wear your mask correctly by clicking HERE to follow the CDC guidelines.
How to Take Off Your Mask Carefully,
When You’re Home
·        Untie the strings behind your head or stretch the ear loops
·        Handle only by the ear loops or ties
·        Fold outside corners together
·        Place mask in the washing machine.
·        Be careful not to touch your eyes, nose, and mouth when removing and wash hands immediately after removing.

Please note: Neck gaiters and masks with vents are not allowed at Hinsdale Central.

Booster Membership Drive

Hinsdale Central Boosters is a registered 501(c)3 charitable parent run organization. We provide financial support to numerous clubs, athletic teams and art programs at Hinsdale Central through our annual grants. Over the last five years our donations have totaled almost $220,000.
Typically a Booster membership would entitle you to free admission to all regularly scheduled home athletic events. Depending on the level selected, your membership will come with some cool HCHS swag like blankets, umbrellas or stadium chairs. This year, the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) has mandated an adjusted sports schedule and no spectators will be allowed at sporting events. While we are all disappointed, we hope that you will still consider supporting Boosters through your Membership and/or donations so we may continue to support the Arts, Activities and Athletics at HCHS.
You can donate or become a member through our website www.theboosters.com or via your HCHS PushCoin account. We wish you and your student the best for a safe and successful school year!

Hinsdale Central Bus Drop-Off, Parent/Guardian Pick-up and Entering School
Due to ongoing construction on the southside of campus, we are relocating the bus zone to the northside and eastside of campus. This relocation of the bus zone complicates what is already a complicated drop-off and pick-up process for parents who drive their children to school. Please note the changes to before school Drop-Off and after school Pick-Up of your children.
AM Drop-Off
Front Circle Drive (55th Street Circle Drive)Student drop off
Gymnasium Circle Drive (Grant Street Circle Drive)Bus drop off only
*Students should not exit the vehicle on 55th Street or on Grant Street due to safety concerns.
PM Pick-up
Front Circle Drive (55th Street) & Gymnasium Circle (Grant Street)Bus loading zone

The after school pick-up cannot take place on campus until after the buses depart campus. We need this time to stage the 19 buses on campus and load students into the buses safely. Parent/Guardians will need to pick up students 20 minutes after dismissal to allow buses to leave campus. An alternative option is to have parents/guardians pick-up their child off campus: for example at the Community House or Hansen Center. Students can walk to and be picked up at these locations.
Entering School
Students will not be allowed to enter the building until 7:30 AM. The exception to this time will be students taking an Early Bird Class. Please see your Dean of Students if this presents an issue for your family.

As we work to check students and staff for symptoms of the COVID-19 virus, students can only enter the building at the Main Entrance, Door #1, or the Pool Doors, Door #5.

Students and staff will have their temperatures screened as they enter the building with a High Throughput Thermal Screening system. After walking through the temperature scanners students must proceed directly to their first period class. Students will not be permitted to use their lockers this year due to social distancing guidelines. Students and staff will need to wear their school ID, lanyard and mask while on campus.
