Call for Nominations for the 2025 Exceptional Patient Care Award!


The annual Health Center Association of Nebraska (HCAN) Exceptional Patient Care Award will be awarded to a health center staff member(s) who exemplifies outstanding service and commitment to improving the health and well-being of their patients and communities.

 

Awardees should demonstrate exceptional contributions to the Community Health Center Movement through their service, steward leadership, and dedication to the health center mission.

 

Nominations are now OPEN through Friday, July 18th, 2025.

NOMINATION REQUIREMENTS & SELECTION PROCESS

 

  • All nominees must be employed at a Nebraska or Iowa Associate Member Community Health Center.
  • A steering committee will review all nominations and select this year’s awardee(s).
  • All nominators will be notified via email after the steering committee’s selection.
  • The winning health center(s) can determine whether the award is a surprise for their awardee(s).
  • The award will be presented during the 2025 Nebraska Community Health Conference on Tuesday, September 9th, 2025 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. The awardee(s) will receive a FREE registration to attend in-person and accept their award.

HCAN TRAININGS

HCAN Partners with Creighton University on Intimate Partner Violence Trainings


HCAN recently partnered with faculty at Creighton University to provide two trainings at Community Action Health Center in Gering, discussing how to identify and address patients experiencing Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). These inter-professional trainings provided the opportunity to learn more about the presentation of IPV, practice interacting with AI patients, and engaging with other staff to identify best practices and opportunity for growth in this area.

Summer School NextGen PM

HCAN is partnering with BecomeMore Group, a transformation and optimization team, to offer a Process Improvement Training, providing health centers with Lean Six Sigma Green Belt-level skills. This initiative builds continuous improvement capacity to drive sustainable quality and operational enhancements. Registration closes August 11th!

FREE CE for Behavioral Health Teams: Behavioral Health in a Primary Care Setting Training Series


Description: This 4-session webinar series is tailored to licensed behavioral health clinicians working in primary care and other medical settings. This educational series will cover common clinical situations that present in the primary care setting, along with updates in practice approaches and common challenges.

HRSA Region 7 NCQA Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Virtual Training August 11 - 14, 2025


Thanks to the support of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) is pleased to offer a virtual training on Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Recognition for HRSA Region 7. Hosted by Community Care Network of Kansas, this training will feature two courses:


• Introduction to PCMH Program – Foundational concepts of the medical home

• Advanced PCMH Program – Mastering medical home transformation


This training includes on-demand (recorded) lectures alongside live webinars featuring Q&A, polling, content review, and faculty engagement. Participants must review required on-demand modules before each webinar session.


NCQA will provide the same continuing medical education (CME) credits and PCMH Certified Content Expert (CCE) maintenance credits as in-person seminars. Those who complete both courses will be eligible to sit for the CCE exam.

HCAN Staff attend CSRA Educational Conference


Talent Acquisition Specialist, Becca Usher, attended the CSRA Annual Educational Conference in Kansas City. The Central States Recruitment Association is an affiliate organization of the Association for Advancing Physician and Provider Recruitment (AAPPR).


The two-day event included topics such as “Integrating Marketing, Culture, and Technology for Physician Recruitment Excellence”, “Culture in Our Rapidly Changing Environment”, “The State of Physician Compensation, Shortages, Retention and Recruitment Initiatives Nationally and Regionally”, and “7 Lessons on Managing Chaos with Good Listening and Negotiation Skills in the Challenges of Professional Recruitment”.
