Exceptional Patient Care Awards Announced!
Health Center Association of Nebraska (HCAN)’s Annual Exceptional Patient Care Awards were presented during the 2025 Nebraska Community Health Conference on Tuesday, September 9th at the Lied Lodge in Nebraska City. This award recognizes health center staff members who exemplify outstanding service and commitment to improving the health and well-being of their patients and communities. Congratulations to our 2025 award winners!

It’s that time again! Our 12th cohort of the Medical Assistant Apprenticeship kicks off on October 6th, 2025. Submit your apprentices through the registration link by September 26th to be part of this cohort!

Registration is Now Open for the Region VII Virtual UDS Training
This year's annual UDS training will be conducted virtually via Zoom. Participants should plan to attend all sessions for a full and comprehensive understanding of the complete UDS report.

Management of Adult ADHD in Primary Care: Didactics & Case Studies using the Project ECHO model

New Patient-facing Resource: Teen Check-Up Videos in English & Spanish
HCAN has developed videos to help your teen patients take ownership of their health and learn what to expect during a teen visit. Use this guide to help craft outreach messages. We recommend sending the videos out to all patients due for a teen check-up visit.

National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Students to Service Loan Repayment Program
Applications open through November 6, 7:30 p.m. ET.
Eligible students in the last year of medical, physician assistant, nursing, or dental school can receive up to $120,000 in tax-free student loan repayment assistance from the NHSC Students to Service Loan Repayment Program (NHSC S2S LRP). In return, you provide at least three years of full-time service at an NHSC-approved site in a designated Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA). An additional $40,000 Maternity Care Target Area Supplemental Award is available to eligible physicians and certified nurse midwives.

Maven Project | Statewide Pilot - August Data
HCAN & Nebraska's health centers are piloting the e-consult service Maven Project to try to help increase access to specialty care for all patients. In August, 11 total e-consults were completed. Data for the month of August is shared here:
All clinical prescribers at Nebraska health centers have access to Maven for e-consults. If you're a prescriber and have questions, reach out to your medical leadership or HCAN.

AgriSafe Nurse Scholarship Program
The AgriSafe Nurse Scholar program is an online learning program to help nurses increase their competence in prevention, identification, and assessment of diseases and conditions commonly experienced by people working in agriculture. Topics covered include emerging issues, personal protective equipment, allergic and non-allergic respiratory disease, hearing protection, dermatologic disorders, pesticide exposure, women’s health issues, the opioid crisis, zoonoses, immigrant farmers, safe-guarding children, rural behavioral health, musculoskeletal disorders, aging, and more!
Participants will be required to complete all of the training and complete evaluations to receive a certificate and 23 hours of continuing nursing education (CNE).
