HCA State Advocacy Campaign for CHHA Funding – December Update #2 

HCANYS' advocacy campaign to support essential CHHA funding in the NYS Budget continues in full-swing as we head into the final weeks of the calendar year. 

End of Year In Sight for Federal Action 

Congress has two weeks left before the end of the 118th Congress. There are several outstanding issues that need to be addressed before they reach December 19.  

DOH Conducts Training Session on LHCSA Statistical Reports 

The one-hour webinar provided a step-by-step overview of filing requirements to acquaint LHCSAs with the filing process. In addition, appropriate DOH staff also answered questions presented during the interactive session. 

CDPAP – Statewide FI Transition – Update 

As legal maneuvering on the transition to a Statewide Fiscal Intermediary continues in various courtrooms across New York, the NYS Department of Health (DOH) and the selected Statewide FI (Public Partnerships LLC, or PPL) continue to press ahead with preparations for the April 1, 2025 launch date.

On December 5, 2024, HCA and other associations representing the long-term care continuum met with the state Department of Health (DOH) Office of Aging and Long Term Care (OALTC). 

National Alliance for Care At Home Announces New Chief Operating Officer  

Sherl Brand, RN, BSN will join the Alliance as its first Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective January 2025. 

NYS Department of Health Announces New Funding Opportunities 

The NYS Department of Health has released the long-awaited direct caregiver flexibility grant from DOH that is intended to create a more uniform and centralized “training and support system” for direct care workers (PCA, HHA and CNA) in the ten (10) Economic Development Regions (“EDR”) as outlined in the RFA.  

Medicaid Update 

The Office of Health Insurance Programs of the New York State Department of Health has approved the release of the October 2024 Medicaid Update.   

Fall 2024 Semiannual Report to Congress 

The report highlights over $7 billion in expected recoveries and receivables resulting from HHS-OIG investigations and audits conducted during fiscal year (FY) 2024. 

CY2025 SADC HCBS Compliance Process Overview for MLTC Plans 

The New York State (NYS) Department of Health (DOH) is inviting plans to a CY2025 SADC HCBS Compliance Process Overview for MLTC Plans webinar to be held on Tuesday December 10, 2024, from 11:00 AM- 12:30PM.
