As of today, there have been no budget bills revealed and a fourth budget extender was passed, funding the state through this Wednesday.

Although most of the attention has revolved around the state Budget Bills, the NYS Legislature has also focused on a variety of other non-budget related legislative proposals that impact the home care industry.

DOH Issues Reminder On Dually Certified Aide Certificates 

The Department of Health recently issued a reminder for providers of expectations for home care aides who are dually certified as Home Health Aides (HHA) and Personal Care Aides (PCA) listed in the Home Care Registry (HCR). 

 

Medical Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment (MOLST) Form and eMOLST Revisions 

The New York State Department of Health has revised the Medical Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (MOLST) Form, (DOH-5003). 


Home Health and Hospice Tabletop Exercise to be Held in NYC

The Home Care Association of New York State Education and Research (HCA E&R) is hosting an Emergency Preparedness Tabletop Exercise at no cost for Home Care and Hospice agencies as part of a series of activities funded by a grant from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH) Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response (OEPR).

 

DOH Declares That Influenza is No Longer Prevalent in 2025

At this time, the regulations (10 NYCRR § 2.59) no longer require all home care, hospice and other healthcare and residential facilities and agencies to ensure that all personnel not vaccinated against influenza for the current influenza season wear a surgical or procedure mask while in areas where patients or residents may be present. 

 

DOH Lunch and Learn Series Posted to NY Learns Public Health, Learning Management System

NYS OMIG Selects Performant as its Recovery Audit Contractor  

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires New York State (NYS) Medicaid program agencies to contract with Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs) for New York’s Medicaid program integrity purposes. 

 

NGS Update: 2024 Medicare Cost Report Due Dates 

National Government Services (NGS), the Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) for Home Health and Hospices in New York’s Jurisdiction 6 (J6) reminds providers that Medicare Cost Reports ending on December 31, 2024 are due to NGS by June 2, 2025.

With patients with arthritis or those in the at-risk categories, it’s important to know their limitations and abilities to best serve them to meet their needs.
