BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT
UP Art Studio has been working in Houston to help develop civic pride through civic art. They have been enabling new opportunities for urban street artists to come together at special galleries, big murals, and their latest project, Houston Mini Murals. They share their thoughts on street art, how it seeds culture, and why if you want the big murals, you need to also support the emerging street artists. UP Art Studio is a Houston-based organization that facilitates art projects for urban and contemporary artists and communities, locally and worldwide. UP Art Studio specializes in mural and art commissions, public art projects, gallery art shows, photography, design, event planning, and artist collaborations. UP Art Studio is currently working on several public art initiatives in Houston, including a Mural and Public Arts program to bring more public art to the city of Houston and beyond, and Mini Murals (minimurals.org), a civic art project where traffic signal control cabinets are being transformed into works of art. LOOKING BACK
Growing Your Business Online
MARCH 21, 2018
Digital marketing connoisseur, Doug Mansfield, from Mansfield Marketing LLC presented ways for entrepreneurs to save money while having a reputable business presence online. It goes without saying that having a digital strategy will allow businesses to make most of their resources available, without sacrificing a substantial part of their budgets. Digital marketing is a must, especially for the small businesses that offer products or services other bigger brands offer. So now you know: Digital marketing is no longer an option, but a necessity for your business to thrive!
Girls and Women in STEM
On March 23rd, our team hosted the Girls & Women in STEM, to empower many of the students and women-business owners to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering and math. Our students had the chance to meet women leaders in STEM from across various fields of practice: enterprise business and technology solutions, mechanical engineering , systems engineering and integration experience, purchasing and marketing for petroleum engineering. Special thanks to our panelists for breaking the ceiling in their fields, and for taking the time to inspire the next generation: Aileen Lu, Meredith Smith, Paula Smith, Susan Thompson, Nooshin Yazhari, and Kelsay Yerian.
