Modelo Canvas y Marketing
El primer curso en  español, presentado por consultores Luz Marina Bedoya y Miguel Angel Gutierrez, introdujeron el Modelo Canvas y Marketing a los emprendedores y estudiantes, en el campus de HCC Southeast, el sabado, febrero 21. Este curso fue presentado en dos partes para nuestros participantes: (1) Modelo Canvas- Desarrollaron elementos principales incorporados en el plan de negocios, en una manera visual; (2) Comercializando su Marca- Exploraron la importancia dedesarrollar una imagen y marca unica para el crecimento de su negocio, usando ejemplos decompañias globales.

COMMUNITY EVENTS
Requirements:
  • Youth must be between 16 and 24 years old. (by program start date).
  • Youth must live within the City of Houston limits.
  • Youth must be eligible for employment.

WOMEN IN STEM
Aileen Lu
Formerly Executive Officer of the Australian Chamber of Commerce, Commercial Officer of the British Consulate General, Chief Operations Officer of Formula One Grand Prix China, Lu is an International Business Consultant providing services in the areas of Purchasing, Interpretation and Strategic Marketing and Market Entry in the international communities in the United States as well as abroad.

She sits on board of business organizations, President of Society of Petroleum Engineers HCC Chapter, Advisory Board of World Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of Chinese Petroleum Engineering Association, etc. She has been promoting economic developments between USA and China, by creating and retaining jobs, recruiting new business and industries, retention, expansion and enhancement of existing businesses, and supporting entrepreneurship.

As Ms. Attractive China International and a philanthropist for domestic abuse, human trafficking and sexual assault, Lu has spoken at various events, programs and television shows and was featured in multiple newspapers and magazines with a large social media follower base. She is on board of non-profit organizations such as Title IX Board. Lu’s work has been recognized by the Congress for her great contribution to the community. City of Houston. Sylvester Turner, Mayor of Houston, has proclaimed October 1st, 2017 as Aileen Lu Day. Her fund-raising events have donated millions of dollars to the Red Cross and have been supporting Chinese schools, Sichuan Earthquake & Hurricane Harvey victims as well as Domestic Violence, Human Trafficking and Sexual Assault survivors. Lu is moving forward by building her new global foundation, dedicated to helping survivors.

The Educational and Outreach Forum
The U.S. Department of Labor and the HCC Office of Entrepreneurial Office hosted he Educational and Outreach Forum, February 28, 2018, at the HCC Southeast campus. Contractors and employers from all across Texas participated in breakout sessions to learn on how to comply with workplace laws and regulations administered by DOL, EEOC, and other agencies, and what resources are available. 6th International Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship
HCC Director of Entrepreneurial Initiatives &a Community Relations, Brenda D. Rios along with UHD Assistant Director of Graduate Services, Dalia Sherif, presented their research academic abstract paper "Entrepreneurship Across Cultural Contexts: What Hofstede's Model and GEDI Rankings Missed in Evaluating the Entrepreneurial Potential in Pakistan, Egypt, and Zambia" at the 6th International Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, March 5-6, 2018 in Washington, D.C. Their findings included entrepreial success in developing countries without the support and infrastructure of their own economies, and showing how local entrepreneurs that took the risk of starting their businesses out of needs of survival, have changed their living standards. Entrepreneurs can make the impossible possible!
