Principal's Corner
Dear HCE Parents and Guardians,
It is hard to believe that we are approaching the completion of our first quarter of school. Parent Teacher conferences bring a time to reflect on the early progress of the school year and plan for future learning needs. By now you should have a scheduled time from your child's teacher to meet virtually.

Please take special note of the MODEL B (VIRTUAL) LEARNING information in this newsletter. There is a link to follow with all of the details.

We will end the month taking time to reflect with gratitude on Thanksgiving Day. I want to thank you for your continued partnership. School and Home together create the best team for student success.
Warm Regards,
Mrs. Komas

Model B (Virtual Learning) Information
Dr. Olson shared information in a recent communication that we have been preparing as a district for a shift to Model B (Virtual Instruction) in the event that a need arises for us to do so. For current in-person students, please review Day in the Life of an Elementary Student in Model B document. Students in distance learning will not experience any change should we transition to Model B.  We are sharing this information to help everyone be informed of the changes that will occur in Model B. Please reach out if you have any questions.
Veterans Day
As in previous years, HCE students will commemorate Veterans Day. We will honor our veterans by wearing red, white and blue on Wednesday, November 11. Students are encouraged to write thank you notes to our local veterans. The notes should be turned in to the office no later than Friday, November 6. The notes are distributed to veterans in local nursing homes and senior / assisted living centers by the staff at Schramka-Borgwardt Funeral Home. The veterans look forward to this every year, and with many not being allowed visitors due to COVID-19, this will be appreciated even more.
November Book of the Month
What Do You Do With A Problem?
Handling problems is the theme for November. In the story, a child has a constant problem, and doesn't know how to resolve it. The problem seems to get bigger the longer it is not dealt with. When the child finally faces it, the problem is quite different than it originally appeared. Problems challenge, shape and help us discover how strong and brave we can really be.
