HCI Monthly News & Updates
Message from our Board Chair

We have made it to July, can you believe it? I think I have heard someone joke we are entering level 7 of Jumanji. This year has definitely not been normal, for good reasons and not-so-good reasons. Through it all, I hope you can continue to find joy. My joy will be found with my family, vacationing on a quiet lake in Wisconsin to shut off the world and re-energize.

When I return, the HCI Advisory Board will be coming together (through Zoom) to create an amazing conference experience for our HCI members. We understand and support everyone’s place in this not so normal time and will do our best to make it so everyone can get the most out of conference.

HCI has also put together some webcasts - panels of our expert members - discussing potential scenarios for our future travel. If you can, take the time to watch both PTO and Partner panel webcasts to gain different perspectives of how each are handling the Covid-19 challenges.

There are many challenges right now. Just remember: There is good out there. There are good people. This country was built on principles to protect our rights and freedoms. Freedoms that give us a voice to stand for what we believe. To stand for our brothers and sisters in this country and defend what is right and good. To stand together with love. Hang in there, my friends. We will get through this.

Sending love and air hugs,

Melanie Davis, CBCD

Meet our newest Club Director

Peer Networks are so important to club directors around the country because the members can provide support, generate new ideas and assist with solving problems. Often times peers can recommend outside resources that you would not have otherwise heard of. That is exactly how Cindy Salta learned about HCI. Some of our favorite New England bank club directors – Doreen McKinney, CBCD; Shelly Morey and Julie Mossa; and Sharon Patton – had been meeting with Cindy and shared their excitement about HCI while encouraging her to consider joining. Never one to disregard sound advice, Cindy became HCI’s newest member in May. We are thrilled to be able to introduce her to you, and we hope that we will be able to meet her in person at Peer Group next year.

Cindy started working at Bank of New Hampshire before she had kids, but left to be a full-time mom for several years. She returned to the bank about 9 years ago and served as the assistant to the club director for 7 years. She took on the role of Club Director when her predecessor retired two years ago, and has been running it herself since. Cindy and her husband have been married for 35 years and have 4 children – a daughter and 3 sons, the youngest of which are twins. Over the past 10+ years, she has enjoyed watching her children play sports – field hockey, soccer and baseball – at their different colleges. This has enabled her to travel, take in some great games and stay involved in her kids’ lives.

The Prestige Club enjoys taking two to three extended tours each year, in addition to several day trips. Since they are just 2 hours from Boston, they frequently take in theatre performances there. They were in Croatia and Albuquerque (for the balloon festival) most recently. Her members enjoy the five-star experiences that Cindy offers. She takes good care of her members by treating them to wine and cheese stops, providing goodie bags on every trip, giving away great bank swag and spoiling them with delicacies from bakeries they encounter while on the road.

While her members appreciate the good-life that they have while on tour, they are more than happy to spend some of their time away giving back to those less fortunate. When Cindy took over the club, she started offering her members the opportunity to do service projects during her trips. She says, “Let’s do something meaningful while we’re in these places.” They often take part in give-back experiences, and have packed food in Albuquerque, donated toiletries in South Africa, and left behind clothing and money for the locals in various other places. Bank of New Hampshire’s President & CEO explained, “Bank of New Hampshire has a deep commitment to the communities it serves, and we wanted to extend that service and commitment to the communities we travel to by volunteering with our Prestige Plus travelers.” These experiences have been quite impactful for their members.

Even though she looks forward to traveling again, she worries about how she can do so without compromising the first-class experience her customers have come to expect. Will people be bothered by having to wear masks? How will I be able to afford all the little extras that my passengers have come to expect if the motor- coach can only be half full due to COVID-19? The Prestige Club has been using Collette for their tours for many years. As a long-time customer, Cindy has a very good relationship with Collette and enjoys being a President’s Club member each year. She loves their insurance policy and takes comfort in knowing that she and her members are in capable hands. Cindy participated in an HCI Rally Call last month, and was very pleased to be able to commiserate with other club directors from around the country and learn what they are doing in light of all the uncertainty and frequently-changing guidelines. Her relationship with HCI and its PTOs helps her feel more confident that “We will travel again!”

Since the beginning of Covid-19, HCI has been very active communicating with our membership and providing valuable resources to help everyone deal with their own circumstances.
