Monumental Achievements
Monument Middle School in Rio Dell wanted to find a way to honor its 8th grade graduates since they won't have a traditional graduation ceremony. So they put up banners in the school windows for the community to see, and made a video of them.

First Virtual INNOVATE! Finale is a Hit!

The Innovate! Business Challenge finale went digital this year with a Facebook Watch Party. Hundreds of people watched our five finalists pitch their ideas. Jude Ortega, a sophomore at Arcata High, won the top prize of $2,500! See all the winners and watch the finale video on our website.

Seal of Biliteracy Awards Up Next

Awards season continues this week with the Seal of Biliteracy. Students who have demonstrated proficiency in multiple languages are given formal recognition on their high school diplomas, and are honored annually at this event. The 2020 Seal of Biliteracy Awards will debut Thursday, May 28 at 7pm on our website.

County Health Update on Graduations
The County Health Officer recently issued guidelines regarding socially distant graduation ceremonies for local schools, stating that in-person graduations are not allowed at this time. An addendum and a letter to parents has also been issued.
