Concert begins at 7:30 PM

"A Salute to Veterans" is the theme of our upcoming concert on Friday, Nov 9, at the  Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood Drive, Houston, Texas. It is shaping up to be a wonderful experience for everyone. Honoring our veterans and active duty military will be the main focus of this program. Get set for some interesting content with various speakers and  remembrances of our country's heroes. It will be an opportunity to honor and show support for individuals who have put their country above self.

Under the direction of Dr. Kevin M. Klotz, HCS Artistic Director, the program will feature patriotic readings, prayers, reflections and songs accompanied by piano. The University of Houston Air Force ROTC Color Guard will present the Colors. Some of the choral numbers included are: "The Star-Spangled Banner," "Battle Hymn of the Republic," and "A Tribute to the Armed Forces."   Featured HCS soloists are soprano Amy Ghanem, singing "God Bless America," and tenor Charles Thornburg, singing "Bring Him Home."

We are so appreciative of the wonderful staff at Tallowood, as their collaboration has made this concert possible.

Our Chorus

We love to have a great time!   This season we are 84 members strong with a diverse group of singers, many of whom have been singing with us for several years. We are so proud of every singer. Auditions are held several times a year to add new singers. If you know of someone who would make a good addition to the chorus, please direct them our way.

About Us

The Houston Choral Society (HCS) is a not-for-profit professional-quality civic chorus that serves the greater Houston area. Our mission is to bring great choral music to enrich the soul and advance the choral arts to Houston audiences.  We enjoy singing a wide variety of repertoire, including works by Handel, Mozart, Brahms, Eric Whitacre, Morten Lauridsen, to more popular styles of music. Additionally, we often collaborate with professional musicians from the Houston area and as well as outstanding local high school choral ensembles.

The Houston Choral Society recently performed Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Additionally, they have completed five international tours performing in England/Scotland, Italy, Hungary/Austria/Czech Republic, Ireland, and Germany/Austria.

The Houston Choral Society is funded in part by grants from Harris County and the Texas Commission on the Arts through the Houston Arts Alliance.  For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit the HCS website at  www.houstonchoral.org.
