Tickets will be available October 14th through December 1st.
There are a limited number of tickets available.
Presented by Historic Downtown Snohomish Association (HDSA)

In-person Charmer – Collect your Charms in town from November 14th to December 7th. When you buy your ticket online, HDSA will mail you an empty bracelet with your “2020” charm and jump rings to attach the rest. You will also get a Map/Passport, which Must be presented to each participating merchant to receive their charm. In keeping with Shop Safe Snohomish guidelines, there will be no check in – no build station. We will also include a merchant schedule to help you plan your #snoho-shoppingadventures.

Virtual Charmer – HDSA is excited to be able to accommodate those Charmers who are not able to come to historic downtown Snohomish in person by adding a virtual option, starting October 14. When you by your ticket online As a Virtual Charmer, HDSA will mail you a packet containing an empty bracelet with your “2020” charm and jump rings to attach the rest, as well as the charms as packaged by each of the participating merchants, and a link to the virtual walk video.

The virtual walk video will highlight each participating merchant and their charms, so you know which location each charm represents. Hidden throughout the video you will find clues which will ultimately allow you to build a phrase to be used when entering to win one of the door prizes.

- SNOHOMISH SHINES -
- HDSA HOLIDAY EVENT PLANS FOR 2020 -

It’s Beginning to Feel a Lot Like Christmas…

Just like Santa’s Elves, your dedicated volunteers at the Historic Downtown Snohomish Association are busily planning and creating some wonderful holiday events to draw people to downtown Snohomish.

Keeping with our November and December traditions, our town will be transformed into a Holiday Dreamscape with twinkling holiday lights, decorated storefronts, and magically transformed trees. The Riverfront Gazebo will be decorated for photo opportunities with friends and family.
The HDSA has come up with an ambitious holiday calendar of events and in the spirit of community have invited our fellow service organizations to help make them a reality.

The Tentative calendar – we are optimistic that we will be able to move ahead with the scheduled events, however we still need final approval on several. We will have a definitive calendar by late October. Please bear with us as we work out the final details.

All our events are designed and planned to comply with COVID-19 safety and social distancing recommendations, thus once approved we will need volunteers to help ensure everyone’s safety.

Keep the following dates on your radar, however keep in mind that events may be canceled due to safety concerns.

• November 9th - 19th – Snohomish Restaurant Week
• November 9 – Giving Trees
• November 12, 13, & 14 – Holiday Open House
• November 12 to 21 – Shop Window Decorating Contest
• November 28 – Santa Arrives! and we Light the Tree
• November 28 & 29 – Socially-Distanced Photos with Santa at Randolph Cellars
• December 5 & 6 – Scavenger Hunt for Children
• December 18 to 24 – Chase the Grinch out of Snohomish Fun Run
• December 21 – Winter Solstice Walk

Our Community Spirit will make Snohomish shine!

SNOHOMISH GIVING TREES

November 9th - December 12th
We are excited to reveal our Snohomish Giving Trees. Amid everything going on in the world we wanted to bring the joy of giving back into our community. From November 12th – December 12th you will find Christmas trees on the sidewalks at major intersections that are decorated with giving tags filled with needs from varying local charities. We have included everything from pets to vets, please help us fill the needs of those in our community, grab a tag, purchase to items, and return them to Sprig Flower Co. or Randolph Cellars any day of the week or bring them to the town tree on December 12th from 11am – 5pm. You may also make a cash donation via HDSA if you do not have time or cannot shop and we will do the shopping for you. We are encouraging all shoppers to shop local within the Snohomish community.

All potted trees generously donated by McAuliffe’s Valley Nursery and will be auctioned off in early January.
The Grinch has been a cagey feller these last few years. To help out in chasing down the elusive Grinch we have brought in a Grinch catching specialist, The Snohomish Running Company. The Historic Downtown Snohomish Association is partnering with the Snohomish Running Company to help ensure the funniest, safest and most enjoyable 5K and 10K run/walk yet.

This year's Chase the Grinch out of Sno-Who-Mish will feature a socially distanced and COVID-19 mitigated live run on December 18th and 19th. Participants will be able to choose their own start times while at the same time enjoying fun on course decorations and cut-outs. For those who aren't quite feeling up to running down a Grinch in a crowd, a virtual run option is available from December 16th through December 24th. Each participant will get a custom buff, finisher medal and bib number with their registration. Custom race shirts are available for an additional $10. Need some warming up before you chase down the Grinch? Take part in the Chase the Grinch Semi-Virtual Beer Run between December 16th and 24th. Beer run will be $10 for participants or $15 for non-participants.

Running route will be an out-and-back starting and finishing along the Centennial Trail across the parking lot from Averill Field in Snohomish. Participants will be required to wear masks prior to the run and immediately following the run. Masks will not be required during the run as long as you are 6 feet away from another participant. Other COVID-19 mitigation plans will also be enacted throughout the event.

How creative ideas and innovation are assisting
Small Businesses in this age of COVID-19

With the COVID-19 pandemic limiting the use of indoor dining room space, the Snohomish City Council passed an ordinance for our restaurants and bars to add more table seating outside. The outdoor seating will occur in Historic Downtown District on Friday, July 31st through December, 2020.

This ordinance will temporarily allow bars and restaurants to add outdoor dining space in the public right-of-way.

Two concerns arose at the City Council meeting, one being the assurance that the City comply with the ADA regulations and assure that those who have disabilities are able to have access into and through those areas.

The other issue is open containers in the public right-of-way – particularly in the parklet model. “Alcohol will be served in this area, as an extension of their current liquor license”, said Wendy Poischbeg, Economic Development and Communications Manager City of Snohomish. She continued to say “The barrier fencing is 42” high as required by law. Each restaurant needs to let the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board know their outdoor plans”

Outdoor Dining through November!
WE WANT TO SEE YOU IN HISTORIC DOWNTOWN SNOHOMISH!
WE MISS YOU!
We have hand sanitizer, face masks and social distancing to keep us all safe!
Volunteering and its surprising benefits!

In its efforts to implement the Main Street approach to organizational structure and management, the HDSA has four committees: Organization, Design, Economic Vitality and Promotion. These four committees form the basis for the Main Street Four-Point Approach which is a time-tested, holistic approach to historic downtown revitalization efforts nationwide.

If you are interested in volunteering in any of these Committees, please reach out to Carolyn Powley at powleyc@gmail.com.
The Snohomish Map and Directory!

This map & directory represents hours of computer research, thank you Google, miles of walking and re=walking our streets, to assure that every building, business, service, ATM and city park was accounted for. Our goal is for the Historic Downtown District visitors to find you, shop, visit and share a meal in our town with the hope that they enjoy their time with us and return often. Please let us know of any corrections.

Such an undertaking! Maps are now in the 3 kiosks on 1st Street! And, look for the QR Code on merchants windows. You can use your smartphone camera to grab the QR Code and you can download a .pdf of the map.
