36-Year Employee Retires from Hi-Desert Water District
Yucca Valley, CA - Today, Kari Bagshaw, the longest employed person in the history of Hi-Desert Water District (HDWD), has officially retired after 36 years of service.
In 1979, Kari arrived at the old administration office on Old Woman Springs Road on a Puch model moped. She began her extensive career serving customers in various capacities such as a billing clerk, accounts payable and payroll. In her recent role as a customer service representative, she greeted hundreds of customers by name and would welcome them with her contagious smile. "It's been a pleasure meeting and getting to know so many really nice people throughout the years," said Kari Bagshaw. "My experiences at the District have been many, but my most memorable memories are witnessing the generosity and kind hearts from various customers, and learning to pay it forward when possible."
During her tenure at HDWD, Kari played an instrumental role in facilitating the 1989 Yucca Valley Water Company and Hi-Desert Water District merger and handling the after-effects of the 1992 Landers' earthquake. She also was known to receive many accolades for going above and beyond her duties when assisting customers and her peers.
HDWD thanks Kari for her many years of hard work and dedication, and wishes her an enjoyable retirement.
