WEEKLY UPDATE: November 23 - December 6, 2024 | |
STANFORD COMPUTING AND DATA SCIENCE:
- Deliveries from 6am to 9am will increase traffic on Jane Stanford Way. Please obey flag persons.
- Expect increased traffic on Lomita Drive due to deliveries and debris removal.
- Furniture truck deliveries and planting deliveries continue.
JANE STANFORD WAY - NIGHT WORK:
- Excavation of chilled water along Via Ortega, between Jane Stanford Way and Via Pueblo, continues this week.
- Excavation along the West entrance of the Paul Allen Building continues this week. Vehicular access into the yard will be impacted. Delivery vehicles, please follow flagger's instructions.
- Via Ortega, between Jane Stanford Way and Via Pueblo, will be closed from 9pm to 6am. Please follow the posted detour for vehicles and bikes.
- Work hours are 8pm to 6am, Monday through Thursday, with the road closure beginning at 9pm.
BUILDING 80 DAAAS RENOVATION:
- Soft interior demo work and salvage of materials continues. Please note there may be some noise associated with the work.
MITCHELL EARTH SCIENCES BUILDING:
- Potholing for hot water pipes, between the Aeronautics Building and the Mitchell Earth Sciences building, will take place on Monday, 11/25, and Tuesday, 11/26.
- Sawcutting will be performed from 6am - 8:30am only.
- Sections of the sidewalk will be closed during construction. Pedestrians please follow the posted detour.
- Work hours are 6am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.
DEEP LAB AT END STATION 3:
- Emergency Power shutdown on Tuesday 11/26, 5am to 3pm. There will be temporary lighting in the stairwells.
- Ongoing deliveries to the HEPL South building will take place (pipe, machinery, ductwork, etc).
- Please follow path of travel signs, and wear protective safety gear where instructed.
- Expect loud noise, vibration and dust, along with possible odors from painting.
- Mezzanine 2 will be closed to non-construction personnel beyond the restrooms.
- Interior activities include drywall, framing, and structural steel installation in the basement.
- Work hours are 5am to 3pm, Monday through Friday.
VIA PUEBLO:
- Abandonment of sanitary sewer manholes will take place Tuesday, 11/26, and Wednesday, 11/27.
- The parking lot adjacent to the Varian building will only be accessible for deliveries. No parking will be available during work hours.
- A section of the road along Via Pueblo will be closed during work hours. Flaggers to direct traffic as needed.
- Pedestrian access will not be impacted as a result of this work.
- Work hours are 6am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.
ROTH WAY GARAGE:
- Construction of a new bike cage on the first floor of the Roth parking garage continues.
- Some parking stalls will be reserved for contractor parking during construction.
- Vehicular access throughout the garage will not be impacted.
SANTA TERESA STREET IMPROVEMENTS:
- Street improvements on Santa Teresa Street between Lomita Drive and Duena Street continue.
- Work includes concrete and asphalt demolition. Expect noise and dust.
- Parking, pathways, and bike lanes will be impacted.
- Please observe posted detour signs and use caution when traveling in the area.
NEW GUINEA SCULPTURE GARDEN:
- Remaining work is irrigation repairs and planting restoration.
- Working hours from 8am to 5pm.
WELCH ROAD LOADING DOCK UTILITIES AND DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS:
- No work scheduled for the week of 11/25.
- Potholing work on Campus Drive for new sewer main installation will commence on 12/2.
- Sewer main installation in Campus Drive following potholing activities.
- Traffic control will be in place. Please follow direction from postage signage and flaggers.
- Work hours are from 7am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.
EQUESTRIAN CENTER ENTRY:
- Fence Removal and post footing demolition will take place next week on Fremont Road.
- Minor sidewalk demolition and concrete installation will occur at Electioneer Way.
- Work hours are 7am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

GRADUATE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION:
- Work will occur this Saturday, 11/23. Work will start at 6am, CSI will be pulling down temp power from SB t-bar ceilings. MBC will have on site representation to monitor the upcoming storm events.
- A small concrete pour is on schedule for Tuesday 11/26, from 6am until mid-morning. Please be alert for concrete trucks entering the site through Escondido mall.
- Escondido Mall remains closed between Meyer Green and Lasuen Mall.
- The CERAS gate will be utilized weekly for dumpster removals/replacements, material deliveries, and dump trucks.
- Structural upgrades of GSE North are ongoing; expect increased noise and vibration.
- Follow all posted signage around the site fence for alternate pathways.
GALVEZ UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS:
- Night work will take place from 10pm to 6:30am, Sunday through Thursday.
- Completing abandonment of existing lake water.
- Pedestrian and traffic control will be in place. Please follow directions from posted signage.
- Staging area at Auxiliary Library off Pampas Lane.
MAPLES PAVILION EXPANSION:
- Construction will continue through the remainder of the year. Expect excessive noise and dust.
- The sidewalk on Campus Drive is closed, please follow posted detour signage.
TAUBE PAVILION AT ARRILLAGA TENNIS CENTER (TAUBE TENNIS SOUTH):
- Intermittent disturbances may occur on the paths adjacent to the courts through the remainder of the year due to construction activities.
- Bike, pedestrian and cart routes have been modified around the site but are still open. Please use caution in this area and follow posted detours.
- Metal decking work began this week, expect this work to be very loud. Please use caution around the site and follow directions of the flaggers in the area for your safety.
ARRILLAGA TENNIS CENTER (TAUBE TENNIS CENTER):
- Demo of the stadium continues. Expect excessive noise and dust.
- The sidewalk on Campus Drive will be closed, please follow posted detour signs to ensure your safety.
- The walking path between the tennis stadium and Avery Aquatic Center will be closed to through traffic. Please follow detour signs around.
- Sam McDonald Mall will have intermediate closures due to construction for the next few Weeks. Please follow detour signs as necessary.
STANFORD SOFTBALL STADIUM (SMITH SOFTBALL STADIUM):
- Construction fencing will remain up for the duration of the project, please expect excessive noise and dust.
- Churchill Mall will be closed to pedestrians directly adjacent to the stadium, please follow signs for detours.
- Pedestrian access to Steuber Stadium is limited. Please follow signs for detours and ADA access routes.
BONAIR SIDING ROAD DEMOLITION:
- Demolition activities are ongoing, please use caution in the area.
- Sidewalks, bike lanes and road through Bonair Siding will remain open. Please use caution at the construction gates.
- Utility work on Bonair Siding is ongoing intermittently. Please follow instructions from flaggers.
EV UTILITIES RENEWALS:
- Sanitary sewer replacement at Buildings 55, 56 & 57.
- Pedestrian traffic control will be in place. Please follow directions from posted signage.
- Work hours are from 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, except for Thursday, 11/28, and Friday, 11/29.
OLMSTED ROAD UTILITIES:
- Testing of electrical conduit along Olmsted Road, between Hulme Court and Barnes Court, will take place from 12/2 to 12/6.
- One lane, two-way traffic on Olmsted Road will be implemented as needed during construction.
- Work hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
FACULTY STAFF HOUSING:
- Installation of domestic water main and services on Sonoma Terrace the week of 11/25.
- Installation of domestic water main and services on Mayfield Avenue the week of 12/2.
- Traffic control with one-way traffic will be in place. Please follow direction from postage signage and flaggers.
- Staging area on Bowdoin Lane.
- Work hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, except for Thursday, 11/28, and Friday, 11/29.
JUNIPERO SERRA BLVD & PUMP STATION:
- Hydroseeding scheduled for Friday, 12/6.

LOMITA MALL AND PANAMA MALL:
- Work to complete conduit size proofing for electrical upgrades along Lomita Mall and Panama Mall.
- Some detours for pedestrians, bikes, and deliveries will be implemented.
- Work will continue sporadically through December, with working hours from 7am to 5pm.
ESCONDIDO VILLAGE NEAR MCFARLAND:
- Work to install new high voltage duct banks.
- Some detours for pedestrians, bikes, and maintenance will be implemented.
- Working hours are from 8am to 5pm.
MAIN QUAD - NIGHT WORK:
- ERI work is ongoing in the Main Quad.
- Some pedestrian detours will be in place, please follow detour instructions.
- Work hours are 9:30pm to 8am, Monday through Friday.
