WEEKLY UPDATE: February 20 - February 26, 2021
COVID-19 UPDATE
Work continues on essential projects to support critical housing and infrastructure for the campus community. This work continues to be done with close attention to the health and safety of construction workers. All planned work is subject to change based on shelter in place orders.

WEST CAMPUS
SEQ ART INSTALLATION:
  • Installation to occur 2/22 - 2/26 via crane located in SEQ quad.
  • Follow pedestrian detours in SEQ quad during installation.

HERRIN DEMOLITION:
  • Increase in truck activity as interior demolition ramps up. Please use caution and follow the direction of construction signage and flaggers at Lomita and Roth.
  • Structural demolition of the Herrins continues through February - expect intermittent noise.

GATES COMPUTER SCIENCE RENOVATION:
  • Construction fence erected.
  • Access to building will be restricted to construction personnel by EOD 2/19.
  • Soft demolition will begin 2/22.
  • Expect increased truck traffic on Via Pueblo and Via Palou.

CAMPUS DRIVE:
  • Domestic water underground utility replacement work through 2/20. Work hours from 8:30am to 4:30pm. 
  • Traffic will be impacted on Campus Drive with lane adjustments and flaggers. 
  • Expect delays on Campus Drive between Junipero Serra Blvd and Santa Teresa. 

HISTORY CORNER:
  • Utilities replacement project continues through Summer 2021.
  • Work will be done at nights, Mondays through Thursdays from 6pm to 4:30am.
  • History Corner Access Limitations:
  • Buildings 1 & 10: The doors on the north side that lead into the History Corner will be blocked. Occupants will be directed to use the south entrances towards the Church.
  • Buildings 20 & 40: No doors will be blocked; however, access to nearby walkways into the History Corner will be closed. 
  • Buildings 120, 160, 170 & 200: The doors on the south side that lead into the History Corner will not be blocked, but occupants will be directed toward doors that lead to Jane Stanford Way, Lasuen Mall, or Memorial Court. The lower and upper exits into History Corner on the south side should only be used in emergencies.
EAST CAMPUS
GRADUATE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION:
  • The underground utility relocation and site work for the GSE building begins on Monday 2/22 the hours will be 7am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.  
  • Available here is a map of the area under construction, used for laydown, and the alternate bike and pedestrian paths.  
  • This is phase 1 of many that will be occurring around the GSE Building and Barnum to prep for an upcoming construction project. 

PAMPAS LANE/BONAIR SIDING:
  • A portion of Pampas Lane will be closed 2/16 - 2/17 for paving work near the new Public Safety Building; access will be maintained to Stanford Federal Credit Union, SAL and R&E building.
  • Paving work will also take place on Bonair Siding near Grainger.
  • Striping work will take place 2/18 - 2/19. 

JANE STANFORD WAY & SCHWAB DROP OFF:
  • Work continues near Manzanita Garage and Schwab, to install the new sidewalk and drop off area. There will be intermittent traffic impacts associated with this work. 
  • Please follow the direction of all construction/detour signage and traffic control personnel. This work may be noisy at times.

CABRILLO-DOLORES FACULTY HOMES:
  • Miscellaneous utility box prep at locations around the project. 
  • PG&E will be onsite to energize the new underground lines and remove their overhead lines. On Wednesday 2/24, PG&E will cut power to a number of homes to tie in the new power lines. This power outage is from 8am to 4pm. PG&E have notified each of the homes affected by this shutdown. 
  • Expect heavy equipment in the area, including trucks and excavation equipment. 
  • Construction Hours: 8am – 5pm Monday through Friday, Saturday 9am – 5pm. No work on Sundays or holidays.

ESCONDIDO GRADUATE RESIDENCES:
  • Underground work to relieve ponding on McFarland pathway will begin week of 3/1.
  • Note pedestrian and bike detours in the vicinity.
  • Use caution when traveling in the area.

SAFETY REMINDERS
  • Avoid using cell phones while walking or biking, especially around construction sites.
  • Pay attention to your surroundings as you walk, run, bike, or drive around campus.
  • Anticipate detours in construction areas and follow the directions of flaggers and signs.
  • If you're riding a bike, follow the rules of the road - stop at signs.
  • Allow a little more time than usual to travel on campus.
