WEEKLY UPDATE: April 3 - April 9, 2021
COVID-19 UPDATE
Work continues on essential projects to support critical housing and infrastructure for the campus community. This work continues to be done with close attention to the health and safety of construction workers. All planned work is subject to change based on shelter in place orders.

WEST CAMPUS
SEQ ART INSTALLATION:
  • Please use caution and follow pedestrian detours through SEQ Quad or avoid the area if possible.
  • Access to quad is through Via Palou.

HERRIN DEMOLITION:
  • Please use caution and follow the direction of construction signage and flaggers at Lomita and Roth.
  • Structural demolition of the Herrin buildings is now complete. Work will continue to remove demolition debris from the site.

STAUFFER I & II GENERATOR WORK:
  • The lawn area between Keck and Stauffer I will be closed during construction, which starts 4/12.
  • Please use caution and follow pedestrian detours on the north side of Stauffer I and south side of Stauffer 2.

GATES COMPUTER SCIENCE RENOVATION:
  • Soft demolition has been paused temporarily.
  • One lane on Jane Stanford Way is impacted due to debris boxes in front of the building.

CAMPUS DRIVE:
  • Domestic water underground utility replacement work through 4/24. Work hours from 8:30am to 4:30pm. 
  • Traffic will be impacted on Campus Drive with lane adjustments and flaggers. 
  • Expect delays on Campus Drive between Junipero Serra Blvd and Santa Teresa. 

HISTORY CORNER:
  • Utilities replacement project continues through Summer 2021.
  • Work will be done at nights, Mondays through Thursdays from 6pm to 4:30am.
  • History Corner Access Limitations:
  • Buildings 1 & 10: The doors on the north side that lead into the History Corner will be blocked. Occupants will be directed to use the south entrances towards the Church.
  • Buildings 20 & 40: No doors will be blocked; however, access to nearby walkways into the History Corner will be closed. 
  • Buildings 120, 160, 170 & 200: The doors on the south side that lead into the History Corner will not be blocked, but occupants will be directed toward doors that lead to Jane Stanford Way, Lasuen Mall, or Memorial Court. The lower and upper exits into History Corner on the south side should only be used in emergencies.
EAST CAMPUS
GRADUATE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION:
  • Underground utility relocation and site work for the GSE building continues; work hours are 7am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.  
  • Available here is a map of the area under construction, used for laydown, and the alternate bike and pedestrian paths.  
  • This is phase 1 of many that will be occurring around the GSE Building and Barnum to prep for an upcoming construction project. 

JANE STANFORD WAY & MANZANITA TURN-AROUND:
  • Expect one-way traffic on Jane Stanford Way along Manzanita Garage through 4/16.
  • Please follow the direction of all construction signage and traffic control personnel. 
  • This work may be noisy at times.

ESCONDIDO VILLAGE GRADUATE RESIDENCES:
  • Replacement of a dying tree near Bldg A is scheduled for 4/9 and will impact ADA parking stalls for one day.
  • Use caution when traveling in the area.

ARRILLAGA HALL UNDERGROUND INVESTIGATION:
  • The path between Arrillaga Hall and Ford Center will be impacted through the end of the month due to an underground investigation.
  • Use caution while traveling in the area.

GREEN LIBRARY EAST - HOHBACH HALL:
  • Hohbach Hall Green Library East 1st floor TI project.
  • Work hours are from 5:00am to 2:30pm.
  • Interior demolition.
  • MEP overhead rough ins.
  • Wall layout markings underway.

SAFETY REMINDERS
  • Avoid using cell phones while walking or biking, especially around construction sites.
  • Pay attention to your surroundings as you walk, run, bike, or drive around campus.
  • Anticipate detours in construction areas and follow the directions of flaggers and signs.
  • If you're riding a bike, follow the rules of the road - stop at signs.
  • Allow a little more time than usual to travel on campus.
