For Collin County's most vulnerable children

With its family-friendly neighborhoods and outstanding schools, it's easy to assume Collin County's children are all living well. However, the numbers reveal a hidden story. Each year, there are over 5,000 reported victims of child physical, sexual, and emotional abuse in Collin County alone.

SECRETS VS SURPRISES

Secrecy is an offender's major tool in securing and exploiting their victims. It is important to explain to children the differences between secrets and surprises so they know not to withhold information that could harm themselves or others.
HEALTHY COMMUNICATION

Anne began attending therapy at CACCC after her sibling was sexually abused by a male relative. She was experiencing a lot of anger and was having behavioral issues both at school and at home. Her therapist provided her guidance on communicating with her parents who were co-parenting from different households. During her time in therapy, Anne navigated changes with her parents including the marriage of one to a new partner. Through a conjoint session with her father, Anne was able to practice talking with her dad about her feelings so that he can keep her safe. Thanks to her time in music therapy, Anne has learned how to express and manage her feelings in a healthy way.
