HEALTHeLINK launches 2018 Report to the Community
HEALTHeLINK 2018 Report to the Community

As the health information exchange (HIE) for Western New York, HEALTHeLINK continues to serve physicians and health care organizations in the secure exchange of clinical information. As highlighted in its 2018 Report to the Community, HEALTHeLINK is focused on enhancing patient care through streamlining care coordination, improving the quality of data, and exploring how best to serve the health care community of the future through population health measures and reporting.
Easier identity proofing (and even more secure)
HEALTHeLINK is introducing the Duo Mobile App as a quicker and more secure method to receive your second factor authentication when logging in to HEALTHeLINK. At HEALTHeLINK, we continually measure and improve our security program to keep patient health information as secure as possible. As such, we are encouraging the adoption of the Duo Mobile App, which eliminates the passing of a code to increase the security of the process.

The Duo Mobile App is quicker than receiving a text message or phone call, and all it takes is one quick click within the app to log you into the system. No more need to type in a code. The App requires only a small amount of storage on your phone and uses less data than loading one webpage.

The next time you visit the Community Portal, we encourage you to enable Duo Push. If you are currently using a cell phone to authenticate via call or text, but don't have the Duo Mobile App installed, click on "My Settings & Devices" > "Device Options" > "Activate Duo Mobile" to get set up.

Duo Mobile App

If you don't have a cell phone set up at all and would like to add one, follow the instructions through this link to get started with the Duo Mobile App.

Authorized Contact changes coming to LINK & NET
There are two important changes forthcoming to better control user access to HEALTHeLINK and HEALTHeNET and make it more convenient for participants to submit user account requests.

Beginning March 21, 2019, Authorized Contacts who have not reviewed their practice user list within the previous thirty (30) days will be prevented from submitting new user requests until the review is completed. Please note that lockouts will begin on March 21, 2019 if you have not reviewed your practice list on or after February 19, 2019. This will ensure compliance with state and federal policies and regulations with regards to the maintenance of your authorized users.

By May 1, 2019, all Authorized Contacts (AC) will be required to have an AC portal account in order to securely and efficiently perform the following:
  • HEALTHeLINK new user account requests
  • Secure messaging account requests
  • All user account deactivations
  • By the end of 2019, the above process will also apply to HEALTHeNET. Further communication will be sent as this date is defined.

If you don't already have AC portal permissions, please contact the help desk at 877-895-4724.

HEALTHeLINK Functionality: Real-time alerts notifications
Do you know when one of your patients has been seen in the emergency department, admitted, or discharged from a local hospital? Even though hospital visits often require follow-up consults to continue the transition of care and meet quality requirements, patients do not always notify their providers. We have the solution - alert notifications from HEALTHeLINK. Learn more about this real-time feature by clicking here.
