California originally banned the sale of alligator and crocodile back in 1970. In 2006, the State of Louisiana along with the crocodile and alligator breeders and hunters got a temporary exemption signed into law under Governor Schwarzenegger. That exemption would last until Jan. 1, 2010. However, they came back to California and got the legislature to extend that exemption until January 1, 2020.
Now, the clock is ticking down, and guess what...they're back! They have hired lobbyists to convince our state legislature once again to not only extend the exemption, but repeal the ban completely.
We must fight back, and fight back now. Help us defend and restore California's historic protections for these animals.
