Recently, I was interviewed by Norville Barrington, VP of the New York Chapter of the National Black MBA Association. I shared my views on the business opportunities in the $84B Golf Industry for African Americans.

THE MISSION
- PROMOTE THE GAME, THE BUSINESS, THE INDUSTRY, THE CAREERS AND THE OPPORTUNITIES IN GOLF TO AFRICAN AMERICANS
THE
OBJECTIVES
- Promote economic growth, diversity and inclusion in golf for African Americans and other underrepresented groups
- Provide a friendly and welcoming environment for golf industry leaders to develop relationships with African American and other underrepresented entrepreneurs, community programmers, and golf enthusiasts.
- Help grow golf and the industry by featuring subject matter experts in learning forums, seminars and networking opportunities.
- Provide funding to grassroots organizations involved in teaching and promoting golf to the African American community

Retired Naval Officer, and Avid Golf Enthusiast
Charlene Williams named Chief of Staff for the EXPO
|
|
|
Charlene Williams of Tampa,FL has been named Chief of Staff by EXPO organizer, Jim Beatty. Charlene will be responsible for all administrative and financial functions conducted on site during the expo. She will manage a team of people whose goal is to ensure that every EXPO attendee has an outstanding and memorable experience.
Charlene is a native of Tampa, Fl and upon high school graduation entered the Navy.She was deployed during
9/11
in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom
She was stationed onboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Carl Vinson as Drug and Alcohol Counselor and the Aircraft Carrier USS Enterprise. She has traveled, trained and facilitated to many Sailors internationally
Charlene’s, career highlights include qualifying for dual warfare pins, Master Training Specialist, Lean Sigma Six. During her career as a Command Fitness Coordinator she earned several fitness certifications and is a certified Spin, Step Aerobics and Zumba instructor.
She has been awarded the Navy Commendation Medal with Gold Stars, Navy Achievement Medal with Gold Stars and the first female Sailor of the Year on the USS NASSAU
She earned a BA in Psychology from National University in San Diego an MA in Organizational Guidance Counseling from Norfolk State University and is currently pursuing her Doctorate.

Since retirement, Charlene, has dedicated her life to everything golf. Charlene is a Disabled USA Warfighter Ambassador, an Adaptive Golf Sports member, LPGA member, Fairways to Warrior member, A Perfect Swing Golf member, Girls with Goals, LLC Supporter, Special Olympics volunteer representative and the Military Veterans representative member for the We Are Golf Diversity Task Force Recreational Play Subcommittee.
Charlene, states, “Golf has positively changed my life physically, mentally and spiritually and adamantly believes that the game of golf saves lives” GOLF IS A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE FILLED WITH UNPARALLELED POSSIBILITIES."

Cathy Harbin is
a 28-year veteran in the golf industry. Harbin served as executive director of Golf 20/20 for three years, where she was involved with several national committees. She has a strong relationship with the PGA of America and its Get Golf Ready program, a program she helped launch in 2009 while with Golf 20/20.
Cathy Harbin’s pedigree includes Class A PGA Master Professional status since 2000.
She is also a member of the LPGA and the National Golf Course Owners Association
