So many of you have shared that you've missed our in-person Walk/Run/Yoga event and are excited it's back!
We're excited, too, and we're pulling out all the stops to ensure that this year's event is both meaningful and memorable. Be sure to mark your calendar and note the following:
While you wait for registration to open, be sure to check out our event pages and use the weeks ahead to train, form a team, and/or plan a costume. Registered adult and youth participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt and goody bag. We'll also have entertainment, giveaways, and more!
Sponsorships are critical to event success, and this year we're offering several levels and enticing benefits. Whether you choose our entry-level $250 Bronze Sponsorship or "Go for the Gold" Sponsorship or higher, you contribution will ensure patients receive post-surgical products and services that help their physical and emotional healing.
Our popular expo is an impactful way to share your nonprofit's mission, your service group's work, or your company's products and services. We've had a wonderful variety of expo participants in the past and this year will be no different! Get exposure to 500+ individuals while making a difference in your community.

Tri-Valley SOCKs Did it Again!
HERS Breast Cancer Foundation is honored to receive another generous donation from the amazing Tri-City SOCKs Team!
While we (like so many!) are sad that the May 7th Walk was their final event, we are focusing on the incredible ACHIEVEMENTS this hard-working and fun-loving group of women -- all volunteers -- have achieved: Since 2004 they have distributed $2,165,732.48 to Bay Area breast cancer support and research organizations!
On June 2nd HERS Directors Tina Fernandez Steckler, Rebecca Lalwani, and Annette Lewellyn attended the traditional post-walk "Hand Over the Goods Party" graciously hosted by Dina and
Stu Pann, and were thrilled to receive a check in the amount of $20,000.22.
Please join us in thanking this group for their outstanding support of our patients. With this most recent donation, Tri-Valley SOCKs has donated a whopping $162,000.51 to benefit HERS Assistance Programs.
We will deeply miss this annual event but extend our tremendous gratitude to the Tri-Valley SOCKs and all those who helped make each year's event so successful: Countless walkers, donors, in-kind donors, sponsors, and volunteers who made this event such as success year after year.

Employee Giving/Corporate Matching
Do you work for a company that encourages employee giving (aka workplace giving) and might also offer matching funds?
Many companies such as Anthem, Adobe Systems, Google, Johnson & Johnson, and Apple encourage employee philanthropy. Some even place a value on employees' volunteer activities and donate based on that valuation.
If you're wondering if workplace giving, reach out to your HR department for information. It's a win-win for employees and employers and worth exploring. And please consider making HERS the beneficiary of your giving!
If you haven't signed up for RoundUp, what's the hold up? Seriously, this secure fundraising app makes donating to HERS incredibly easy.
Register one or more debit or credit cards, and every purchase you make will be rounded up the nearest dollar and the difference will be donated to HERS Assistance Programs.
Visit https://www.roundupapp.com/, click on the "Find a Nonprofit" tab, and search for HERS by name or use our Federal Tax ID #: 943309906.
A note to business owners: consider making HERS your beneficiary nonprofit. Register and designate HERS as the recipient of your customers' "round up" donations.
Need help? Have questions? Call Tina Fernandez Steckler at (510) 790-1911, ext. 104.

Team Member Highlight: Rebecca Lalwani
Rebecca has served as our Administrative Director since 2017. In this role she oversees insurance billing, insurance contracts, Accounts Payable and Receivable, banking, donation processing, human resources, general business operations such as licensing and tax filings, and special events support.
In the past, Rebecca has served as a Breast Care Specialist providing direct patient services. It was in that initial role that she "fell in love" with HERS!
In her words: "I fell in love with the nurturing care that each person in the organization exuded for not only each and every patient - but for each other. I fell in love with the patients who inspired me with their strength, humor, and fierce perseverance. I fell in love with the leadership and Board for their enthusiasm (and) our donors for their big hearts. I fell in love with the volunteers and their tireless dedication and loyalty to our mission.
But most important – I fell in love with the person I became while “helping out” at this incredible organization. It was a new world for me – a brave new world – built upon kindness, generosity, and the strength and beauty of the human spirit."
Thank you, Rebecca, for all the love YOU give to our organization and for your hard work!

We are "a soft place to fall."
As one of our dear patients shared years ago, HERS was her "soft place to fall" during one of the hardest times of her life. Being a soft place -- a haven -- aptly describes our mission and our spaces.
If you or someone you know is in need of post-surgical products, our compassionate team members are here for you. Our individualized assessment and fitting services, extensive selection of post-surgical products, and beautifully-appointed spaces make HERS unique.
We accept a wide range of insurances and handle billing so our patients may concentrate on what's most important: their healing. And for under-served patients -- individuals in need -- our Assistance Programs help cover the cost of their products.
As part of our health and safety measures, we continue to offer phone order fulfillment, curbside pick-up, and shipping options. Visitors to our locations may be assured that we continue to practice sanitizing, social-distancing, and mask-wearing.
Call today to book your appointment or have your questions answered: (510) 790-1911.
