September 3, 2021
Dear Hart Families,

We have fine-tuned our arrival and dismissal procedures, and our process is only taking about 6 to 8 minutes once you are in our parking lot. Our afternoon dismissal was finished today in about 20 minutes. Thank you for your patience as we worked out our new system.

On Tuesday our staff will participate in professional development and planning. We value this time together to learn and grow and plan so that we are bringing our best to our students when they return to campus.

Just a few reminders... At this time, we do not have any lunch visitors, and this includes the volunteers for our PTO Lunch Bunch. I hope that you will take a moment to join our PTO (linked below). They do many incredible things for our campus, and they can not do their best work without your support. Please join TODAY.

I hope that all of you have a safe and happy four-day weekend creating life-long memories with your family. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.

All My Best,
Wendy Craft

Reading Academy for Kinder - 2nd grade Teachers
Per House Bill 3 (HB 3), passed by the 86th Texas Legislature in June of 2019, all kindergarten through third grade teachers and principals must complete a Texas Reading Academy by the end of the 2022-2023 school year. The goal of the Texas Reading Academies is to increase teachers’ and principals’ knowledge and implementation of evidence-based practices to positively impact student literacy achievement.
One day a week for the 2021-2022 school year, district K-2 teachers, support SPED staff, and campus administrators will be participating in the group sessions for an hour and a half. Students will participate in enrichment rotations during this time. During training sessions teachers and principals will increase their knowledge of the science of teaching reading to support students’ ability to decode words, understand spoken language, and improve reading comprehension.
As reading and writing are foundational to school success, LISD will continue working with the Texas Education Agency to ensure that all students have access to high-quality reading and writing instruction and highly effective teachers.
