Advancing Surgical Skills: MSSI Laparoscopic Training

As part of HF's ongoing commitment to improving surgical care in Ghana, physicians from Harvard, Emory, and UCSF led a laparoscopic training course at the Medical and Surgical Skills Institute (MSSI). This hands-on program trained 10 local surgeons in advanced laparoscopic techniques.

Empowering Communities Through CPR Training

CPR training sessions were conducted across three key locations:

  • First American Specialist Medical Center
  • TI Ahmadiyya School
  • Ahmadiyya Mission in Accra

These sessions reached approximately 175 participants from diverse backgrounds, including teachers, maintenance and service workers, security officers, missionaries, homemakers, and students aged 8–14. The initiative aimed to equip everyday citizens with life-saving skills, fostering a culture of emergency preparedness across communities.

Introducing Mobile Ultrasound Technology

We introduced a mobile ultrasound training course for physicians at Ahmadiyya hospitals nationwide. 10 physicians were trained in the use of novel ultrasound devices—technologies typically found only in select teaching institutions in Ghana. This training is expected to significantly enhance diagnostic accuracy and patient care in underserved areas.

Volunteer Impact

This mission was made possible by the dedication of 10 volunteers, including 6 returning and 4 new team members. Their expertise and commitment continue to drive sustainable improvements in healthcare delivery across Ghana.

A huge thank you to First American and MSSI for their partnership over many years of missions.
