HFA Community Update:

Since the surprising changes announced earlier this month and implemented by our national organization partner, Hemophilia Federation of America (HFA), HFM has understandably received significant feedback and concern. At HFM, we are committed to transparency, ensuring that any updates from HFA are promptly communicated to our community. HFA has taken steps to directly address some of the concerns raised, and we want to share their message with you.

Join HFM for Maryland Advocacy Training Day and Legislative Visits in Annapolis on Monday, February 19, 2024, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (may end earlier depending on the time of your legislative appointment).

HFM will convene at the Westin Annapolis for a continental breakfast and an in-depth advocacy training. We will then transition to advocacy role play before breaking for lunch and proceeding to the State House for appointments with your legislative representatives. Your voice is crucial. A children's training program will also be available. As February 19th is a school holiday, this is a great opportunity for children to learn how to advocate at an early age.

Agenda:

- Continental breakfast and in-depth advocacy training at the Westin Annapolis

- Advocacy role play

- Lunch break

- Travel to the State House for appointments with legislative representatives

**Note:** We have a limited number of hotel scholarships available for attendees residing more than 30 miles from Annapolis and who would like to attend. Travel vouchers are also available to participating families.

Key Issues:

- Copay accumulators

- Formulary hemophilia drug exclusions

- Freedom of specialty pharmacy choice

- MVP Act to facilitate Maryland medical assistance patients' access to gene therapy

This year's advocacy is incredibly important, and your involvement can make a significant difference. Your voice matters!
