Huntersville HFF - JUNE 2014 - Program Schedule & Announcements

Summer is upon us and with it, a new wave of interns and staff are here to join us!

Meet Alison Spasoff:

Our new director, Alison Spasoff will be starting June 24th. Alison Spasoff was born in Connecticut, and is the middle child of three girls. She moved to the Charlotte area in 1985. Alison and her nine year old daughter, Kylee, currently reside in Kannapolis, NC and share their home with their two horses, Vivian and Hearts and dog, Lexi. Alison has been an avid equestrian since age five and is looking forward to sharing the therapeutic value of horsemanship with the members and families of Hinds' Feet Farm.

Alison earned her degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Western Carolina University in 1996 and has over seventeen years of experience in the human services field. Her career began in 1996 at Tri-County Mental Health, working with troubled children and their families as a High Risk Intervention staff. In 1997, she joined Piedmont Behavioral Healthcare, now known as Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Solutions, where she worked as a Case Manager for multiple populations over a six-year period. She was recognized for her work by the North Carolina Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services in 2001 with the Sandra Wells Peterson "Outstanding Case Manager" award. Alison's work was also highlighted in an article in the NC Community News Update.

In 2003, Alison transitioned into healthcare management, most recently serving as Regional Director for RHA Health Services, overseeing a vast array of behavioral health programming across central North Carolina.

Joining the Hinds' Feet Farm Family as the Day Program Director, enables Alison to reconnect with her passion for providing quality direct services, grounded in a dedicated partnership with consumers, community, and the belief of recovery and strength.

We also have two new interns joining us- Hadley Finley and Kayla Flinchum. Hadley is a rising senior at Davidson College and a Bonner Scholar who is spending 7 weeks with us this summer. She is planning on going to dental school after graduating. She is fluent in Spanish and will be running groups this summer on the Spanish language and groups on Biology, as well as many more. Kayla is a senior at Catawba College working on her Bachelor's in Recreation Therapy. She will be completing a 14 week internship with us this summer! They will be joining our great interns, Jeremy Brough and London Perry.
