Grant Manager Townhall

Thank you to all who attended the Grant Manager Town Hall on Tuesday, August 15th. For review and anyone not able to attend, some main items from the discussion included:

  • Both lead and flow-thru (subaward) proposals will be processed in KR under the HFH+MSU Health Sciences applicant.

  • Any HFH employee named as a PD/PI, Multi-PD/PI, or Co-Investigator will need MSU appointment prior to proposal submission. Verify appointment status with all investigators early in the pre-award process. Direct questions regarding appointments to Kathy Huber at [email protected].

  • Post-award processes continue to be developed and refined. Once an award is received, MSU will set up an account number and the lead PI and administrator will be notified. MSU will set aside funds for MSU and HFH expenditures. Expense processing at HFH will continue per current processes and will be reported back to MSU at which point funds will flow to HFH from the parent award account.

  • The HFH+MSU Health Sciences negotiated F&A rate agreement is available online. The negotiated research rate is 57%.

The August 15th Town Hall recording will be available on the OSP website shortly, including presentation slides. In the meantime, refer to the KR Training page, FAQ page, and proposal development job aid.

Training Resources

ERA Certification Series

MSU is extending the Essentials of Research Administration (ERA) certification course to HFH grant managers. The educational series provides training for staff who have responsibilities for research proposals, grants, contracts, pre- and post-award administration and related activity. There is no cost to complete certification.

HFH staff with FPIDs will not be able to sign up for courses online, so please email Amy Bane at [email protected] to register.

HCRS pre-award support is available for NIH proposals submitted under HFH+MSU Health Sciences. Other proposal types will follow HFH processes.
