Dear HFM Family,
I wanted to send an advocacy update regarding our collective efforts to ban co-pay accumulators in Maryland.
Recently, the Senate refused the amended House version of SB595. The goal was to have the opportunity to negotiate in conference and address our concerns with the amended bill. However, the House ultimately did not agree to go to conference. This hindered further opportunity to negotiate and speak to the concerns the MD All Copays Count Coalition and Senator Hershey had with the legislation prior to the legislative session ending.
I want to thank everyone for their advocacy over the last few months. I want to especially thank community members Megan W. and Melissa Hurtt for their legislative testimony. I am disappointed to say the least, but I believe that progress was made on this issue in Maryland. I encourage you to reach out to Senator Hershey and his team at steve.hershey@senate.state.md.us and thank them for their leadership.
We will come back stronger next year!
Warm regards,
Emma Miller
