March 20, Lunch and Learn Webinar - Training Current Staff As CDIS
|
March 20, 2017 - 12:00 P.M. Lunch and Learn Webinar Hosted by San Diego Imperial Chapter Why Training Your Current Coding Staff as CDIS Makes Good Financial Sense Speaker - Hayley J. Book, CCS is the owner of Full Code CDI™ and founder of the EverNorth CDI Academy
Objective:
To understand the many benefits, financial and otherwise of cross training coders as CDIS.
Recommended Audience:
CEO's, CFO's, HIM DIRECTORS, HIM MANAGERS, CDI DIRECTORS, CDI MANAGERS, CDI PHYSICIAN ADVISORS
Webinar Overview:
In the face of disconcerting predictions about ICD-10's impact on reimbursement; which is yet to be full understood and the explosion of new codes some hospitals still
lack a formal Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) program.
The reasons hospitals have not implemented a CDI program vary. Smaller hospitals have not justified the investment in resources due to the high cost of implementing a CDI program with one of the major CDI vendors, and some hospitals have implemented CDI programs that failed. But the most common reason we find is that the majority of hospitals simply don't know that a CDI program can be implemented without the required high dollar initial investments paid out to consulting firms.
For hospitals, fully implementing CDI is daunting in terms of cost, training, and education required. With the key players being - physicians, coders, and nurses; who often are at odds and don't necessarily collaborate well together. All the while, hospitals have a myriad of other challenges competing for their attention and threatening their bottom line.
