2017 HG III, Napa Valley Red
Normal $50.00, This Offer $42.50 per
You may have purchased HG III in the past. We offer each vintage when promo pricing comes around. Though previous vintages have been Merlot based, the 2017 has a slightly higher percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon than Merlot then finished with 20% Petite Sirah. We have tasted it twice, the first time far to quickly after opening with friends and the second time after an hour in the decanter. The wine is
excellent as a pop and pour showing violets and rich berry on the nose. The flavor profile when first opened is a combination of black cherry and black berry, all very bright and pure with silky layers of mocha and ash. The structure is rich and long and very satisfying--- but if you give it an hour in the decanter add a second finish which goes all blueberry- raspberry with cocoa as the Petite Sirah infuses with the base of highly structured Bordeaux varietals. Beautiful complexity is displayed. $45.00 is the lowest price we found listed, average is $50 and it goes to $56.
All the best, R&M

HG III is a wine Hourglass created in 2012 as a young-vine, early-drinking, restaurant-friendly red. In this vintage, winemaker Tony Biagi took fantastic young vine Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from Hourglass' estate vineyard, and blended it with 20% Petite Sirah to yield a fresh, vibrant, drinkable red with notes of black cherries and blueberries, not to mention cola and cocoa powder. A great introduction to the Hourglass style.
