So far 2017 has been filled with fun and diverse projects for HG Lighting Design.  I hope you enjoy reading about them as much as we had fun creating them.

Recent Highlights
Alice in Wonderland - Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre

This production at Pittsburgh's Benedum Center was a large undertaking for Pittsburgh Ballet. The choreographer wanted to inform the classic tale with a more modern design style. To achieve this, we added LED strips on dance booms and greatly increased the color saturation. This had the effect of enhancing Sue Blane's beautiful scenery and costumes that she had designed several decades ago.  It was a pleasure to work with the team at PBT and we look forward to creating this again in other venues.

Choreographer:  Derek Deane
Production Manager: Curtis Dunn
Lighting Designer: Herrick Goldman
Scenic & Costume Designer: Sue Blane
Associate LD: Stacey Boggs
Electrician:  Kelli Gaertner
Programmer: Will Dennis

Partnering once more with Matte Projects, HGLD designed the Jill Stuart fashion week presentation at the old AT&T building on Broadway at Fulton St. Many logistical challenges were successfully overcome for an elegant and beautiful result.

Fantastic Journey - Majestic Princess

I was proud to be part of the team that created Fantastic Journey for the new Majestic Princess in collaboration with Mode Studios, Bob Bonniol, Pablo Molina, & Butch Allen. The ship launched from Monfalcone, Italy, and we toured the Mediterranean for more than a month while creating an incredible show for the guests of Princess Cruise Lines.

HGLD's TV/Film Portfolio is Live
HGLD is grounded in the theatrical. However, since the 90's with NY City Lites, Herrick has also worked in the Film & TV industry.  Herrick has been called upon to assist in various capacities on film and TV projects, most notably as Lighting Designer and Director for Wonderama, Royal Pains (finale), and the films Sisters and The Night Before.  He has also programmed large lighting rigs and media server elements for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Noah, and Money Monster.  Click here for samples of his work.
Behind the Scenes Charity Partner
HGLD is proud to be the first Pledge-a-Service Partner for the Behind the Scenes charity. Behind the Scenes provides financial support to entertainment technology industry professionals who are seriously ill or injured or to their surviving family members. To aid with the charity's mission of "not leaving our colleagues in the dark," HGLD will donate a portion of design fees to the charity. Future Projects
We are currently designing the Off-Broadway transfer of
Puffs to New World Stages. It's about some kids who go to a certain school of magic. Stay tuned.

I am looking forward to designing The Wizard of Oz at Syracuse Stage this fall. It will feature 2RC (2 Ring Circus) and other collaborators to make something really special for the Syracuse Holiday season.

Lastly (for now), Team HGLD is excited to be designing Jason Bishop's Holiday show at the New Victory Theater for the second year.
Have a happy and safe summer.

Herrick & HGLD are always looking for more fun and challenging work; we are constantly seeking new collaborators to help us create new art and explore new ideas and technology.

Sincerely,

Herrick Goldman
