On July 14th, we started our first annual voting for your favorite HHEAL horse. With this contest, everyone could vote for their favorite horse, with $1 equaling one vote, and they had unlimited opportunities to vote.
It was a very tight contest, with Snowflake taking an immediate lead, leaving all the others in the dust.
After a few days of the other six battling for at least 2nd place, Buster sprung out of the herd, hoping to catch up with Snowflake.
Gaining more and more votes over time, Snowflake and Buster started to get confident that they were safe until it got closer and closer to the reveal of the winner.
About a week before the winner's announcement, it seemed Lucky had enough of being so far behind and shot up past Buster and then Snowflake!!!
During the week, it was an amazing race to win, ensuring everyone was holding their breath, waiting to see who would make it. Finally, August 17th comes, and it is entirely silent… as the dust begins to settle, who do we see in the lead?
SNOWFLAKE!!! Snowflake was our fantastic winner, with Lucky in 2nd place. Congratulations Snowflake!!!! Big thank you to all who participated in the contest, and we hope you had as much fun as we all here at HHEAL did!!!
During the week of August 1st, we decided to celebrate National Watermelon Day.
During regularly scheduled sessions, our riders could have some watermelon drinks and candies and eat some cool refreshing watermelon after they were done with their sessions.
They could also share some watermelon with their riding partner if they wanted to. Thank you to all who donated these items so we could have a fun and relaxing time after sessions!!
The week of August 8th, our amazing barn cat, Oscar, was spoiled. He got extra treats daily, pets, hugs, and cuddles!!
To celebrate International Cat Day, clients, volunteers, and staff members gathered around with cat masks and posed for pictures with Oscar. Thank you to all who donated Cat food and treats to show Oscar extra love!
On August 16th, the Avon Park Ice Cream Company was gracious enough to do an ice cream fundraiser. During the fundraiser, a percentage of the proceeds, made between 5 pm until they closed, would be donated to HHEAL.
Members of HHEAL's drill team even decided to drop in to satisfy their sweet tooth after practice!!
If you want amazing and unique ice cream, stop in and visit the Avon Park Ice Cream Co., located at 3 South Lake Ave. Avon Park FL 33825. They have many options to choose from!!
Thank you, Avon Park Ice Cream Co. We greatly appreciate your donation!
August 26th was national toilet paper day, and we were shocked at how much toilet paper was donated. A big thank you to everyone who donated toilet paper to help celebrate!! A huge thank you to Cindy with the Aktion Club for helping us collect toilet paper during the monthly movie night! We greatly appreciate all of our supporters!!!
Once again, we were blessed to have a fantastic experience with students from Keiser University. The two young ladies that came out to visit us and work beside us for their fieldwork were very hard workers and did a fantastic job working with clients during sessions.
We hope to see both of you again in the future, and we look forward to working with Keiser University on the next rotation!
Throughout life, everyone sees and goes through changes. One change HHEAL is experiencing is saying "see ya around" to our Program Administrator, Julie Ard.
Julie has brought many unique perspectives and changes to our program. She was always ready and prepared for whatever each day held. It will be a challenge to fill her shoes.
While we will miss all the fun and exciting times with Julie, we know we will see her again soon.
We miss you very much, Julie! Thank you for all you have done for us; we hope you enjoy your new opportunities, and we can't wait to see you again!!

Volunteer Spotlight~
Jade Brave
This month's spotlight volunteer is Jade Brave. Jade has been with us since February 2021. She started volunteering with us because she loves horses and she needed volunteer hours for school.
When Jade is not spending time with her grandma and her dog, you will find her participating on the exercise team, the drill team, volunteering on Wednesdays and Saturdays, or feeding. Jade states that she has "learned that horses are [her] passion and that not all horses are the same." Jade also says, "it is crazy how much personality these horses have," which would explain how Kip and Snowflake stole her heart! Looking into the future, Jade looks forward to having a horse or two of her own, and she wants to pursue equine management in college.
Let's not forget the biggest news... Jade will also be seen a lot more at the barn and in the community now that she is our brand new volunteer coordinator!! Congratulations, Jade!! We all look forward to working with you!!

An Easy Way to Make A Difference
One of the things that we've all probably experienced in one way or another is a new appreciation for online shopping. You may not know that Amazon has an option that can make a huge difference to non-profits by a simple click when you place your order. This option does not in any way increase the cost of the item to you, but it can make a big difference to the organization you choose to support. If you would like to support us, please use this link the next time you order from Amazon. It's an easy way to support us, and our two-legged as well as four-legged family appreciates it!
Please help us spread the word!. Teespring allows you to select whatever item you want in your choice of style, color and size for HHEAL merchandise. When you wear the HHEAL logo you are supporting us by spreading the word. We appreciate you!!
Have a thought, suggestion, comment, or question? We invite you to share it with HHEAL.
We would love to hear what Heartland Horses means to you.
